Apparently this may have something to do with expiring music and car licenses.
Anyway, it's heavily discounted at 70% off at the moment, so if you haven't got it yet, now's your chance.
FH3 is still my favourite arcade racer of all time and I expect I'll be playing it off and on for years to come. It looks fantastic and if you only play with a keyboard, as I do, it's very responsive and friendly indeed.
The Hot Wheels DLC is worth the price of admission alone.

Maybe a dumb question but I never bought a game online from M$ before but do I need to use a microsoft account on my PC to be able to install and/or play it?

I'm using a local account on my desktop and like to keep it that way.

You need an account to login to the store to download games but you can set it so it will only login to the MS store and Xbox app.

You don't need to login with windows 10 directly and can keep it offline still.

You now need the XBox app, from what I can gather, which would require you to be logged in with MS.
A while back I was puzzled as to why my Forza games weren't loading and it turns out that the XBox app needs to be loaded for the games to run.

Such a shame... I hope they heavily discount the DLCs that there are so many of so people can grab them for next to nothing... I missed the chance with Horizon 2 and it bugs the hell out of me not being able to 100% complete the game... I hate it when game developers do this and it seems to happen to too many that come out now...

Still, ignoring my rant, it's an amazing game, I love it, it's in my Forza collection

I tend to play these on my XBox rather than PC anyways, even though I found out I can download them for my PC this morning.. Very impressed!

My Forza 4 is Stand alone tho it still shows up in the app as well but I can and do just launch from the start menu most of the tI’ve. I should probably install 3 again but I’m sure I can do it without the app as well.
Edit: WOW I am just installing Forza 3 again and I was shocked to see how small it was(51GB) compared to my well over 100GB Forza 4 install...

It took me nearly 2 days to download Forza 3 and 4.. I hate this digital only world

It's alright for those with decent connections but it sucks when you have a bad one and mines definitely not the worst either...

I'd grab the DLCs whilst you can. I think I paid £21 for everything Forza 3, and about £16 for Forza 4.. Since I found I can run it on my PC and my Xbox, I'll be doing just that

Hopefully the saves will be across platform as well!!

I play all racing games with a keyboard -A to accelerate, Z reverse/brake with left and right arrows to steer. I really don't want any more gaming hardware to deal with and for some reason, I could never get to grips with a controller.

I used to be a pretty hardcore Sim racer with a G25/Playseat combo I had to sell during hard times but Forza is definitely very gamepad friendly.

I hope that this article is correct about the game data being availble for download in "purpetutiy". That has been my only real concern from picking this up yet. Was fearful they would "post-patch" it to remove anything they didn't have a license for.

It seems even with a decent connection, speeds are terrible!! Damn it, we just can't win can we??!! :laugh:

If they do that for future games that I have, I'll just buy them when they are crazy cheap because if they are a few quid for everything, then at least I have everything and can play all the game rather than 50% of it if I don't and unlock those extra areas which you won't be able to without the DLCs (which did I mention, think it's crap and sucks??)... Bygones.....

No, you don't need an XBox to play it. XBox is Microsoft's game branding which on first sight can be misleading. AKA, XBox Play Anywhere.
Just download the required app/apps, buy the game and download. Simple.
And if only we could move our Microsoft games around like we can with Steam and others, instead of having to download them all again after a system change...

It's available on PC same a Forza 4. It's available via Windows Store

Right? I have now actually dedicated an SSD to MS games because I got tired of having to format an entire drive because it refuses to recognize previous installs and basically makes the drive "unavailable"

I tried that recently because of a fresh Windows install and I even booted to Linux live and WinPE to see exactly where the games were in the hope of pointing MS to them when Windows was up and running.
I failed miserably and had to download them all again - FM7, FH 3&4.

Yep I just ended up dedicating a drive to MS games so if I have to redo Windows I'm only losing MS games. Yeah the worst part is that MS downloads speeds are terrible and the games are huge....
