Not a good choice for crossfire. The 975x chipset has native crossfire. From my understanding of the 965 is that it's not native crossfire. The motherboard makers use the southbridge to create another pcix slot. It runs at 4x. If you can afford it I STRONGLY suggest the Asus P5W DH Deluxe. It it just a blazing fast board with hardware raid (no f6 driver install). Also was the fastest overclock I could get. To save a few bucks and still get great performance, AND good overclocking, I suggest the Intel D975XBX2. The XBX2 supports the quad core. It also has 8 SATA ports and heatsinks on the regulators. See my other post about my x1950 pro crossfire problems to see my opinions/tests of those and 2 other boards. I don't know how to link you to it but it shouldn't be hard to find since I only have a few posts. =)

BTW that gigabyte board is a great board. I'm not going to speak badly of it. Word was that the 965 had a 'faster' memory controller but when benchmarked against a 975 there was little to no improvement. I have been battling 965 vs. 975 for awhile now and tested 4 boards, one having the 965. Although the 965 is the newer chipset, the 975 was more stable and overclocked better. Plus there's NATIVE crossfire support. the 965 does not nativly support crossfire. I always figured why pay extra for the 2 pcix if you have no intention of ever using it. I won't buy into "southbridge trickery" to use 2 cards.

No for the Gigabyte.

DFI's Infinity 975X after the bios update is godlike. It can SLI as well as Crossfire-WITHOUT Performance degradation. However I must note that this motherboard's placement of the Power Connectors is a bit retarded IMO. Still doesn't look bad with everything installed.

I have a D975XBX2 tested and bios updated. In case your interested. I'm not allowed to post in the forsale section yet but I figured I'd offer it to you since you were looking. Great layout and overclocking. 975x chipset with 3 pcix graphics slots for crossfire+physics. $200+shipping. I'm in the states. I don't know where your located.
