How much can I get for it? I still have the original case and everything, and the card overclocks like a champ.

MSI gtx 680 lightning.

The two most recent ones sold on EBay in February show sales prices of $104.99 and 109.99. This is of course on open market (US).

If sold on a forum, such as TPU, expect to get less for it.

Around here you’d be lucky to get $50 usd. I’m in the Midwest.

I’ve had one for sale for a few months locally. Not a bad card but there are really cheap cards that easily outpace it now.

Rule of Thumb - Take your build / purchase cost and then subtract 10% .... then 5% for each month of age for 6 months (60% value at this point) ... then 10% for every 6 months thereafter.

0.5 year old - 60% of build cost
1.0 - 50%
1.5 - 40%
2.0 - 30%
2.5 - 20%
3.0 - 10%

So at 4 years ago, it was worth about $65. Your going on 7 years old and it's a 2 GB card ... If someone offers ya $50, jump on it.

Rule of thumb where exactly? nonsense.

Just look at the same types of cards on the used market, ebay, gumtree etc I've had good luck buying older used cards and selling them on after another 6 or so months for roughly the same price so, there is no "rule of thumb" it depends on the card, in your case it was a top tier card back in it's day and is still is capable at 1080p despite what some people will tell you, I used a 670 last year for maybe 6 months and was great at latest games with some settings dialed down, think I sold it for £70? so $120CAD? and of course the 680 was a tier above, I think it could still probably fetch close to the same in todays used market, that said, it was the mining boom and used 580's were going for silly money so at that time I couldn't afford a 480/580 and had to go a couple of generations earlier for my small budget. But I still think you'd be able to get close to $80-$100CAD on eBay today no problem.

Sometimes you find people who want that specific hardware.

I’m now hanging on to mine until someone a few years from now decides to do a retro build and wants to do SLI with my card

Some people have no real world concept of SH parts and spout their rules of (amputated) thumb.

Suspect those rules go out the window ( with the Greed parrot ) when they sell :) (Norwegian Blue with beautiful plumage)

Not at all, price on 2nd hand market depends on availability, quality, the quality of the ad you make, and perhaps even your reliability/review score. There is also a price bump for more exotic parts, and a Lightning card does apply as a better binned card with a solid cooler.

GIven a good quality I'd say 80-100 EUR / $

Well I've looked at the 2gb 680 cards around here and a puny PNY card is selling for 120 CAD....I guess I'll put mine at 150 and go from there. I've even seen more than a few 200$ 680 of similar tier to mine.

Hell, now that I'm thinking about it, I think I'll sell my whole computer (minus the ssds) once I'm ready to do a new build, maybe I'll be able to recoup the costs for the new cpu, memory and motherboard.

No you won't, but we all like to think that we can.
Is the card selling for 120CAD, or is it advertised at that price (without any mention of numbers sold)?

More than 66% sold, not even in working condition. I think I'll try

Besides, if no one buys, you lower the price until someone does no? I know people like free things, but still

Well, I'm not going to tell you not to charge what the market will bear, but I think that the market is somewhat lower...you seem like a nice guy, so I'd love to be proved wrong :)

It might be worth something to a collector that wants that model Lightning card with it's box and accessories, but as a gaming card it's not worth much at all.
Best bet is to put it on eBay for auction with a starting price that you will accept as minimum, if it doesn't sell, lower the start price until it does.

In Winnipeg, I've seen 680s go for 50-80 bucks. For 120ish I usually see 760/770s. I bought my 980 Classified for 200 on Kijiji. It still had the stickers on the fans and shroud.. mint. Most guys want 200 for their 970s, but I paid 150 for mine. On the same note, guys still want 300 for their 1060 6gb, 400 for their 1070s, 5-600 for their 1080s, and 7-900 for their 1080ti's.

And because of that, their cards sit for weeks and months.

Then you have lowballers like me to piss you off when I see you're card has been sitting nearly a month. Mwaha.

The card is still damn good, only reason I upgraded to 1070 was because I needed a dx12 card, 6-8gb vram and found a damn strix oc model for really cheap, brand new. Stress tested it with unigine, 3dmark and the likes for hours and no artifacts, temps always 55-63, silent, it's amazing.

I can't wait to do a new build a few years from now and have only nvme ssds, so much faster and less cable clutter.

I think I won't even put a dvd writer in it lol

I hear you man, you should just sit on it. I have a 580 Matrix Platinum that wouldn't sell for 90, its worth more to me on my shelf.
