I've been getting hefty fps drops to the point I have to cap fps at 100, my CPU usage is crazy even tho i have Intel turbo boost on of speeds of 3.83 GHz I have tweaked my pc to the max and cant have stable fps and I am trying to obtain low input delay whilst having a stable fps on comp settings
any suggestions?

here are my specs

Im an Apex Legends player and I used to have frame drops to 110-120FPS on min settings while most of time it's stable 144locked
The MSI afterburner was showing 90++% CPU usage at the framedrop moments and the GPU usage was dropping from 97% to 78-85%
I fixed easily, by buying a new cpu xD
Now with the ryzen 3600 I'm not struggling anymore
My own conclusion : I5 9400f is disappointing

Do you have any programs running in the background (browsers/music apps/monitoring software/discord/3-rd party control/etc.) ?
Windows Update (ie. OS fully updated) ?

As mentioned:
Upgrade RAM to dual-channel.
Same symptoms (and considerably lower FPS) are common on all the 'modern' OEM budget 'gaming PC' builds that only have a single 8GB stick of RAM.

If you're on a tight budget, see if you can score a cheap matching stick off eBay, rather than buying a 16 or 32GB dual-channel kit new.

What I did in a similar situation was first to ensure that my drivers, including graphics and chipset drivers, were up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause performance issues. Given that you mentioned high CPU usage and FPS drops, it's worth checking if there are any background processes or applications consuming excessive system resources. Use the Task Manager to identify any CPU-intensive tasks and consider closing unnecessary programs while gaming. It's crucial to ensure that your system is properly cooled. Overheating can lead to performance degradation. Check if your CPU and GPU temperatures are within acceptable limits and consider cleaning any dust buildup in your system. Optimizing your operating system and disabling unnecessary background processes can also help in reducing input delay and improving overall system responsiveness. However, it's important to keep in mind that the limitations of your hardware, such as the GTX 1050 2GB, may prevent you from achieving the desired performance on competitive settings. Consider upgrading your GPU in the future if you want to achieve higher FPS and lower input delay in more demanding games.

We're looking at a 2GB entry range GPU and a 6 thread CPU. Apex has all kinds of crazy shit going on at this point, its definitely not a light game.

Like others have said, look into optimizing your system software wise, background tasks to zero, overclocking won't be much help here. Sudden drops/ 'hang' like behaviour are generally CPU related, while stuttery behaviour is often a GPU thing when it falls short.

...and the issue(s) OP has/had are still relevant today.
Not to mention, more troubleshooting advice for those that stumble upon the thread through a search engine.

Though, x007, others, and myself have already added constructive inputs (from a few diff 'angles).
At this point, a mod closing this thread, would be a good idea.

No.. there's no excuse for necroing a 3 year old thread that didn't provide any kind of context to begin with.
