Right oh dear.

The new saphire 5770 arrived yesterday, and was immediately installed on my AM2 motherboard alongside the 2600pro. Worked like a dream.

Today the new Xfire motherboard arrived, so the PC was duly gutted, cleaned and the new motherboard installed, Put the 5770 in and a 4830, (4830 was in the PC before the 5770 arrived) 4830 worked, 5770 dead. Tried 5770 on it's own. Refuses to even let windows boot (XP)

4830 works fine. So my brother puts the 5770 into his mac pro, and it booted into windows 7, drivers installed fine, then the card stops working, error code 43, and the card is RED hot. I don't have another 5770 to compare it with but my 4830 get's no where near that hot even after playing Gmod for hours.

Motherboard has been reset twice, nothing seems to work.

Any ideas?

Verify the fan is working first and foremost though sounds like it maybe dead, I wouldnt do anything else to it, just RMA, sucks but it does happen, its just a case of badluck, at least you have the 4830 to tide you over while you await a replacement

For future info as well, you can't crossfire a 4830 and 5770.

-You didn't forget the 6 pins power did you?
-PSU strong enough? (how much amps on the 12v rail)
-What is your new mobo?

BTW: Did you format & reinstall windows with the new motherboard?

PSU should be fine, I mean it runs the 4830 with a 2600 perfectley, wouldn't even run the 5770 in it's own.

Yeh did the 6 pin connector.

And the mobo is this one

+1. There are most likely driver conflicts galore right now.

all of this seems sketchy, it will be interesting to see if it gets solved.

If ur using the PS in ur sig I wouldnt use 2 cards. I would go into my spheel how I has terrible luck with 500 watt PSs(from Ultra(old versions, new ones are much better), OCZ and Seasonic) but rather than waste my breath anymore here is a bit from someone else

Doubt it'd the problem the card just refuses to work.

No other/better way around this a new motherboard a new Windows installation with new drivers wich won't be the same as the "older" mobo simple as that
