It was time to upgrade the GPU performance as I plan to upgrade the monitor the next few months.
RX580 was doing great for my 1920x1200 monitor but the next one will double the pixels so the upgrade was neccessary.

According to reviews and info all around I was expecting at least a +80~90% increase in performance for the same resolution.
Well, my expectations was not wrong...

Even though I havent done any benchmark to this game wondering around in it showed sustainable increase of 100+% FPS. Its a quiet game without explosions or other intense scenes.

GTAV during benchmark showed 80~90% increase in FPS

The MSI 5700XT GamingX has an excellent cooler. In auto(default) mode the temp max values
GPU: 65C
GPU HotSpot: 85C
Memory: 75C
Fan max RPM: ~1250

After a custom fan curve with MSI Afterburner temp max values
GPU: 60C
GPU HotSpot: 80C
Memory: 70C
Fan max RPM: ~1550

Going from the RoG strix 580 to GamingX 5700XT system overall power consumption increased by 40~60W when gaming
Previous was around ~310W with shoots up to 360W
Now is around ~350W with 410W peaks.

Havent play too much with the new drivers interface. I only tried to setup fan custom curve, and while you can, it will disable the stopfan option, so the fans always spinning at minimum of 500rmp. This needs to be adressed by AMD

That was rather quick...
I'm glad to answer any questions anyone might have

EDIT:
During tests and gaming, max clock of the card was 2080MHz and in most runs sustained over 2000MHz with 99~100% GPU usage. Only in GTAV had a lot of fluctuation in clock and in GPU usage as well (70~100%)

The card's fans are max out at about 3500rpm. I tried them for a while with more agressive fan curve max out at 3100~3200rpm and the results:
GPU: 50C
GPU HotSpot: 55C
Memory: 55C
Fan RPM: 3100~3200

My only wish for the 5700XT is that it supported crossfire. It is nice to know that it is so much faster than the 580 though.

I did long time ago...
There are some(not all) small memory pads like the Evoke but not that bad. The Evoke had high mem temps (85~90C) but this card has no such issue

GPU: 60C
GPU HotSpot: 80C
Memory: 70C

What's there to address? If the card is 40C there's no reason for the fans to be spinning. It's fantastic in regards to dust build up too (the less the spin, the less dust they pull up into the HSF).

Here it is at around 4:30 in the video. Watch the whole video for a complete review of thermals and performance.

HWinfo refers to the memory temp as junction temp. Could be the hot spot of the memory chips.
None the less around 70C for GDDR6 memory is more than ok.
I'm going to open up the card at some point for inspection and will replace them, but as you can see from the video the plate above them is short.

Of course it is great feature the stopfan in low temps. If I set a custom fan curve from drivers it is disabled and the fan always spins at min rpm of 500. Thats my complain...
When I set custom curve from MSI Afterburner the stopfan works... so it must be drivers issue.

I wouldnt call the RX580 potato. Still it is a great 1080p GPU.

BTW, the 5700XT GamingX is not a dual VBios card, for those who like to try things... Its not!

I've done the extensive homework about this card before the purchase, so there was no unpleasant surprises there and pretty much no surprise at all. I expected all of its facts...
But yeah, happy about it!

No reason to flash anything unless there is a higher power limit, msi bios must be used on msi cards, its only the 5700 that get a boost due to PL, once in blue moon a SP is unlocked but very rare

You're right, Potato is pretty harsh.... I simply meant that its near the bottom or not even included in a lot of benchmarks anymore except for low end cards.

My only wish for the 5700XT is that it supported crossfire. It is nice to know that it is so much faster than the 580 though.
Nah, multi-GPU is pretty dead these days. I had a R9 290 Crossfire last year and I saw the 2nd GPU idling in many newer games.

Because the vast majority of games see no point in wasting their time coding anything for Such a low percentage of users

Exactly. Shadow of the Tomb Raider had some benefit, but some older games (for example, Mirror's Edge Catalyst) had the 2nd GPU idling.

agree, great card, I have the same hardware but still on my RX580. I can say myself since I had mine over 3 years about now, but there's a huge difference going 5700 XT, it's well worth it IMHO.

cheers
