Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis, the brilliant entrepeneurs who created Kazaa and Skype are now working on "The Venice Project", which promises to distribute television and video over the internet. Zennstrom and Friis have already hired software developers from around the world, and are currently negotiating with television networks for the rights to their shows. Instead of launching a television-oriented Kazaa, Zennstrom and Friis are working with television networks to legally distribute their content over the internet. They will have a lot of competition however, as iTunes hosts over 150 television shows already, and sites like Youtube continue to gain popularity. A formal announcement can be seen as early as Autumn 2006.
