the issue being the fact that it isn't working.

i know its not the phones i'm using since they work great when i hook em up to the rear panel, and the cord is long enough for me to use even when hooked up to the rear panel, so its not that big of an issue, but still, i'd like to figure out how to make it work...

i have downloaded the r1.75 (which i think is the latest) realtek audio drivers, and made damn sure all the wires go where they need to go, but still no dice...

that 'realtek hd audio manager' just won't recognize the fact that the phones are plugged into the front panel... although the front panel usb ports work like a charm...

any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appriciated...

cheers all.

on the realtek audio panel, go to the mixer tab and make sure you hit the little wrench, & check everything. then hit the scroll arrows for playback and make sure you enable the front panel stuff.

If the back ones work then front should work. Most boards require you to complete the circuit by (a) attaching the front panel or (b) adding the jumpers to the second and forth set of leads.

it could just be a bad jack, bad cable or bad mobo connection or you're not plugging in the stuff correctly.

already did that, everything is enabled and nothing is muted.
thanks, though. :)

hmm...

guess ill have to crack open the mobo's manual, then...
which in retrospect i probably should have done before...

yeah, should've checked the manual lol.

quick update:

the phones are working!
i have no idea why, though... i've simply unplugged them and plugged them in again, and Voilà!, they work...

thing is, that 'realtek hd audio manager' still won't recognize them as being plugged in, and thusly will not turn off the rear audio when i plug in the headset... not a big issue though, since i can just turn off the main speakers/woofer...

edit:

also, unless i check the 'disable front panel jack detection' box, the mic on the headset isnt working...
but if i do check that box, everything works great, 'cept the fact that it dosent turn off the rear audio in that mode... which isnt that big a deal...

upgrade your realtek drivers maybe. idk if the read panel is suppossed to shut off when the front panel goes on so idk.

Sounds like it`s working perfectly

'cept for not recognizing the headset, and the mic only working when i disable front panel jack detection, yeah... its workin' perfectly... :)

but those are pretty minor issues that i can live with...
