Another point is you are using words like "sli'd", which may be classed as pc slang and some potential customers may not know what you mean, especially those rich kids who have 4 grand to spend on a pc for their birthday.

Good idea... I've been round here so much I think everyone knows what SLI is. I'll update it later.

How will the warranty work? Will the send the part to you so you can then send it to the company for RMA? Will you have stock to replace their part and RMA the part they return? Is there any warranty?

Warranty works the same way as any other. If it's broken, we repair/replace. If the system is'nt working, we send a CD with memtest and other diagnostic applications on it, and they send us the results. We check it for what might be broken, then we send them instructions on how to remove the part and send it to us, providing diagrams for the less computer intelligent. I'm aiming to ensure we have at least 5 of each part in stock to send as replacement during RMA. And yes, there is warranty.

Because I'm aiming to be an eco-freindly kinda business. I don't want to have to include loads of stuff in with the system when it might not even be required.

well it sure doesn't seem like it, not to troll or anything but you seriously shouldn't need this much help to run an online pc store...I looked at your website and I can't even begin to tell you how much you're doing wrong, and that's just the selling aspect, you aren't even pairing up systems with PSUs that are remotely right for them...all I'm saying is I pity the person that buys from you and I hope that you can gather enough advice from the generous people here that are giving it to not screw over the sorry customers that you somehow might get

Age deosn't matter. It's your experience that counts. And I'm 16 tomorrow anyway, so I can officially start (I clicked the wrong one and did'nt realise till after). So, becuase I have experience, it should'nt really matter. And I have other people working with me, some of which are older. So, it doesn't really matter.

Hey Ben, I see a ton of negativity and criticism in this thread. First off, I'd like to say to you. At only 15 years old, you show a lot of passion for what you wanna do, and the care that you have for the customer. Here's props to you! At least you have goals and aren't running rampant like a bunch of other young ones (some older than you) causing trouble, and breaking the law and such. Stick with it man, because in 5-10 years, maybe it'll be you that has the last laugh.

yeahh bad psu's are the worst thing. but i don't think he'll have that problem (who's heard of a 1010w generic psu).

ben, 1010w is way to much for a quad core/8800 gtx. 750 watt is still alot. you could get away using something like 520 hx, or if you don't think that's enough power a 620 hx will power that no doubt. 1010w is overkill, the whole thing about selling a product is you want to give them a quality product at a reasonable price. another problem with 1010w is many power cables/circuit breaks can't handle 1000 w of power (i am speaking about the states, i don't know the standards in europe like wire gauge, break amps etc)

also about the website, what is that thing running off of, i have had problems about connecting etc etc, very temperamental is not good. and i think it would look better if your front page had a better pic or something, and at least have a background on the site. honestly i think that if you want to be successful building comps i do not think that pre made systems is a good thing. because you are small you should be doing something along the lines of asking them what the computer will be used for, and then explain parts to them that suit what they are using for.

ex. the celestrial gamer 8800 gtx edition, what if someone would rather have a e6700 instead of the q6600 and save them some money. also, some people don't need a 750 gb hdd, or a 20x dvd burner (remember, a penny saved is a penny earned). last thing, details, details about the everything, even if they don't understand it details make it seem like you know what you're doing, however don't clutter the site with details.

Well you could send a utility/test CD with the package so that if something is wrong they can run a preconfigured diagnostics, or by txt instructions and send you verifacation in order to save time. The longer you make customers wait, the easier it is to lose them.

Plus, you will be one of the few out there that will allow users to tear open a "pre-built" PC via diagram for warranty. That is cool and all, but if you get someone too novice, and say the make a mistake you failed to clearly document for them (or they just don't understand simple instructions), and another component is damaged, you may still be required to warranty it. That could end up in court because you allow warranty to still be allowed with the user digging in the PC. That could cause harm to you and your company. If you get more experienced users, odds are they're too lazy to build their own setup and will have no issues, but those will be rare.

And final note, could you explain your warranty? Legally, covering your company's ass and your own, while making the customer feel confident that the warranty you do provide is fast, secure, guarenteed, legal, cheap/free? If so, could you please post it? Not just for me, but for those interested in purchasing from you. If you decide to take your company public, or already have, being able to have a full documentation, preferrably proof-read and modified via lawyer, it would be in your best interest to make easy access of it. But your goals will be to not only cover your ass, as-well-as your company's ass, but to make the customer confident and happy with it. Remember, too many loopholes will dig your grave for you, so be careful there as well.

I think you're doing okay, but I still think you should start smaller for as wide-based as you're planning to go, that is unless you know you will always have the funds to back up your decisions. Also listing some rates to different US States, countries, etc, preferred postage handlers, etc is a good idea. Better to post it in the thread for constructive critisism and praise than to risk it on the web site and hope the wrong person doesn't stumble upon it!

None of the PSU's I use are generic, they're all from name brands like OCZ and Akasa.

It's a shared server, I am trying to get my router to allow port-forwarding so I can use mine as a server, but till then, you'll have to put up with the server that's running ATM (don't worry, I will upgrade. Just having one person on the site shows CPU usage in the 3+ area, even though it has 2 CPU's. Damn Linux).

Anyway, thanks for all the advice. I will consider this stuff, hopefully making the service better.

So far I've sold 7. 6 locally, 1 online.

PS: I also think the 'Celestial Ultra' has too much RAM, 8GB is crazy, I dont think they would even need that much if it was being used for CAD / video editing!! I would use 4x 1GB for that rig, it would work great for gaming and Vista (just a suggestion m8....advice not criticism )

It has 8GB because that one was designed with maximum performance and not needing to upgrade for a while in mind. Hence, it has 8GB.


And I'm working on non-gamer stuff ATM so people who need to do homework can buy a cheapo one for £300.
