Fuzzy Text - EDID Fix....Need Help

I updated to a newer driver with this feature removed.

The audio disable on the older driver would always reset to audio enable.

well i cant help you with that. the steps i gave you to try will only work assuming you have a way to disable them in the control panel.

I tried disabling the following: control panel, sound, playback, Nvidia HDMI out audio.

Rebooted and still fuzzy fonts.

On an older Nvidia driver with an HDMI Audio disable feature located on the Nvidia Control Panel. Disabling audio would fix the fuzzy fonts.

Well you have disabled the Audio and it hasn't solved your issue. I don't know anything about your TV but both my 42" LG Full HD and my 32" Samsung HD Ready both have HDMI's labelled PC. My 42" has no issue running 1080p but my 32" Samsung runs a lower Res(sorry not sure what it is off the top of my head)

Does your TV have a connection labelled for PC? When you check your Display Settings in NV Control Panel is it ID'ing your TV correctly? What resolution?

I have this TV (Westinghouse VR-3225) 1920 X 1080P working perfectly on another computer fed from a DVI out through a DVI-HDMI cable. Crystal clear and sharp fonts.

Yes, the resolution on the Nvidia Control Panel is set to the TV's native resolution, and it is ID'ing my TV correctly.

The issue is somehow related to audio over HDMI. Using a DVI-HDMI feed eliminates the problem. Unfortunately this particular computer only has VGA and HDMI out.

BTW VGA @ 1920 x1080 works fine. I would rather use HDMI.

This is a known issue with Nvidia which they have never addressed.

They even removed the Disable Audio on HDMI feature on the latest driver because users were complaining about the disabled audio reseting to enabled audio.

Bummer.

I don't get how a driver can pass WHQL testing aka Windows Hardware Quality Labs with a known, serious fault like this? It's like Mickeysoft just rubber stamp the bloody thing. :rolleyes:

When HDMI is working properly, the benefit over VGA is an increase in overall image sharpness.

As it stands now with this computer, VGA is the way to go.

VGA is not bad at all.....HDMI is just a little bit better.

do you have those XML files in the C drive with the new forceware?

why not just uninstall the new ones and install the old ones that have the option to disable it and see if my method fixes the setting save issue?

I removed all the latest Nvidia drivers.

Then installed the older Nvidia drivers.

Now I have the option to disable audio from the Nvidia Control Panel, which when disabled, clears up the fuzzy fonts.

Now I need to figure out how to permanently accomplish this outside of the Nvidia Control Panel.

Is there a way to capture what the Nvidia Control Panel is doing when I select the Audo Disable function?

Solaris, I tried to enter those commands (post 12) and I got error messages. So not sure what to do with your suggestions there.

Can you not just disable the HDMI Audio in Device Manager? It will be listed under Audio devices. That is the "simple and dirty" way to get rid of it and it will stay off.

Have you tried another HDMI cable? Could just be as simple as a bum cable.

The HDMI cable is not the problem.

Had same problem with another computer which has HDMI and DVI out. In that case a DVI-HDMI cable solved the fuzzy fonts (DVI strips out the audio). This computer has only HDMI and VGA. So it's either figure out an HDMI fix or resort to VGA.

you know what? do you know what a farret choke is? if you have one you can try putting it on the cable. or making sure the HDMI cable is away from all power wires. if possible try testing on diffirent HDMI ports.
