G.SKILL Announces New DDR4 Specifications for AMD Ryzen Threadripper

    G.SKILL International Enterprise Co., Ltd., the world's leading manufacturer of extreme performance memory and gaming peripherals, announces all-new DDR4 specifications and expanding the Flare X series, designed for AMD processors and platforms. Compatible with the new Ryzen Threadripper processors and AMD X399 chipset motherboards, these new DDR4 specifications are designed to achieve high frequency at DDR4-3600 MHz 32GB (8GBx4), as well as a massive total capacity at DDR4-2933 MHz 128GB (16GBx8).     Can the memory controller even overclock to handle 3600Mhz? I thought 3200 was the highest anyone has been able to get it?

    No some have gotten above 3400 without issues

    It's not the IMC

    The boards are what's limiting the clocks

    I myself may need to pick these up

    am4 Boards where basically rushed to Launch, most of the first generation boards came out with pretty big issues and crappy BIOS, the second and third wave of AM4 Mobos are better.

    TR4 Boards seems a lot better than AM4 At launch, its a matter of time to people to hit DDR4-4000mhz on TR4.

    Yup, 3600mhz does work if the planets align and you have a good cpu, ram and mobo.
    I think that's roughly the limit on the IMC, I've had two 1800X's and the first chip I had could hit 3700mhz, second one could only do 3650mhz, both on the crosshair. I guess lower end boards might limit clocks though. iirc cdawall managed 3800mhz at one point.

    edit: Just realized I'm kinda hijacking this thread lol.. it'll be interesting to see how TR and Epyc do in terms of memory frequency.
