Those are pretty good sticks, but I would spend a couple bucks more on these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231194

A tick faster out of the box, but the kicker is they only require 1.8v, not 2.1v... So less heat, more room for o/c and can get 1150 on stock voltage, 1200 is a piece of cake too with only a slight bump up.

edit: happy 300th post to me! :toast:

It would certainly help seeing as your using only 2GB now, having 6GB will help in games and if your using windows Vista

I'd buy that 4GB set and then use your existing 2GB with it. 4GB in one channel, 2GB in the other.

With Windows Vista and superfatfetch, I'm happy I got 8GB RAM. I was considering selling 4GB of it and keeping the other 4, but not anymore... It's a cool feature if you have at least 4GB or above, but anything less and I wouldn't really like it.

Ok..well this is a weird question but I might as well add it into this thread so I don't have to male another..if I get 64bit is there a way to just transfer all my info example my wireless internet setup over or back it up so I don't have to loose everything on my harddrive? Because I have alot of things and I don't want to reformat just for another 2gb of ram to me
It's not worth it

My motherboard specs say 1066 so will these work? These look like 1100

if you install vista over the top of say XP or Vista 32 it will put all your old Data into a folder called Windows.old, you can get all your data back out of it then delete the rest.

Alright. I just hope it saves my linksys program with my wireless setup in it

those 1100 sticks will be fine man! I'm running a pair right now and have clocked them on my Max board to 1210. It's pretty nice set. Thinking of myself to grab another set because of the fact their so cheap!!

Yeah first I have to get a copy of 64bit.

So if I get vista 64bit it will save my linksys program in a folder? That and all my games? Because if it is going to delete all my stuff screw it I have to
Much time into some of that.. Haha

Can't you just back up all the files on a drive? flash drive, or another hdd?? If it's a hdd, just unplug the one you won't use, and it should be fine...

So really I could get another cheap harddrive install 64bit on that and than unplug my main drive right now and plug it back in after 64 bit is on? But won't that drive still be formatted in 32bit?

I believe that it only is a problem with how you have it formatted... if it's a different format..

How the drive is formatted make no difference to a 64bit OS. Modern OS's of today can read just about 99% of file systems available.

Well I just bought a raptor 150g off paulie so that's what I'm going to put 64bit on so should I just unplug my 750gb with xp
On it when installing 64 bit on to the raptor? And than plug it back in when I'm
Done all my stuff should be there on the 64 bit os right?

One other concern is this sticks hitting my CPU cooler I have an asus lion square and it's big. Correct me if I'm wrong but can't you put your ram in slots 3/4 vs 1/2 and it
Makes no difference?

Yes? No? Maybe so?

you all ways want your ram as being in slot 1&3, or 2&4. The reason on it is simple.. Your running ram at duel channel, so you want the ram to be on the same channels as one another... If it's on 1&2, or 3&4, your not running it a duel channel, but single...
This is the reason why they color change the slots to be two different colors.. Or three for the new X58 boards... Each color represcents it's own channel. Lane..
So, if you do 3&4... it's not going to be duel, but single...

got ya so i could just do 2&4 than.

Right. 2&4 will be fine. The only thing I do suggest is this.. Check your motherboard manual and see if your bios has memory on the first lane.. I say this because some boards, have a "shared" memory with the first lane for your bios. So, when you boot, and go into it, your bios is running off the first lane.. It's not a life or death thing. Just make sure if it is. You can use lane 2&4 for ram and not use 1&3. It just to make sure that you don't have to throw it to 1&3 if you have to work on the bios..

go out and buy a little 80gig hard drive Back up everything. Then just throw it on when your done. Or try the overwrite XP but I wouldnt recommend it.

Alright thanks guys
