Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
I5 6600 +H170 mobo will be cheaper than
FX 8350+ 990 mobo + aftermarket cooler+ higher PSU
along with GTX 1060 , who will be the king ....
i ran all my setup with the same 650W and 750W PSU (no need for higher in reality ... for both configurations) and who was the most expensive of it? well intel setup :p (altho i always had K intel CPU except the Xeon ... if paying more ... at last be it unlocked like AMD does for nearly all other cheaper CPUs)

ps: 6600 = 235chf (not much cheaper than a 6600K where i live ... same goes for the 6500... with the price difference you can put that in something else like a aftermarket cooler well ... not only on AMD ... since Intel stock cooler is ... crap ;) ) 8350 still 168chf and a good H170 is 122chf versus 127chf for a 990FX (not much a difference eh? ) don't forget the DDR4 ... and the 1060? (meh... not worth it ) still price award goes to AM3+ .... ok it's near EOL but who care for now :p

well another video that prove the 83XX can still hold his ground, you have my thanks

ps: edit function ;)

again
i would like to see @takomako trying the revert from .95 to .81 or .69 in the driver section to confirme something
i hope @takomako will be able to check that in the middle of those post (hence why i repeat myself ... 3 time bahahah )

ok now i will only wait on OP's answer.

ok so the cpu is not bottlenecking because that would mean that when i run a game cpu would be 100% usage all the time! + the bottleneck would result in lower fps not those spikes of 10 fps for 1-2 seconds. am i right?

i'm gonna clean the pc from dust and check temps again!
after im gonna roll back some driver versions. i installed the .95 beta cause i read somewhere that its like a hotfix for pascal gpus eliminating spikes!

btw since its a clean install of windows i dont have the mobos drivers on but the same problem was there even before the format. also gigabytes site in the download section of the 1070 has a bios something should i download that?

last thing im gonna use variius malware programs to see if im infected with bitcoin virus (saw a video same problem)

latest driver for me and my 1070, all games working like a charm... (dirty swap from a 980 without DDU or clean driver install and then 368.69 at the very end )

since i have no issues whatsoever i can't really help, but i did read about "fast sync" somewhere and iirc that failure of a feature (introduced by nvidia with the 10XX series ) seems to be the culprit, still i don't know if you did find something about it.

also >>in before<< : "it's your CPU the bottleneck" (if my 6600K hold it ... a 8350 can also hold it )

I'm a dirty swapper too :p

so i just cleaned the pc from dust but the temps didnt change much, however i saw a post saying to close the nvidia control panel before entering a game! and that seemed to work!
no more lag spikes!

btw my cpu was running between 70-75c but no throttle. is that dangerous? its very hot here and i have the h55 corsair liquid cooler on it! on idle its 57c!

Might uninstall Geforce Experience

I think 70-75C is much for FX 8350

Glad to see its fixed, odd issue indeed and there might be a more permanent solution but atleast now you can get it to work properly :)
