G92 8800 drivers?

What is the best performing Driver Set for G92's Nvidia's site STILL recommends 175.19 from 7/19
eVGA site says 177.79
Zotac site recommends 177.98 :confused:

I want good performance in COD4 and Crysis mainly.

well the 175.19 was brought out several days after 175.16 and have been made to make 8 series cards perform worse so the 9 series would look better in comparison, so if you go for 175 go for the .16, i use those myself. (can be found on guru3d)

The 177 drivers have been made to implement physx, I dont have very great results with them, and as long as you dont play physics enhanced games, you could stay away from them, go for 177.98 if you want physx, I think the games you just mentioned dont support physx but i'm not 100% sure.

Games that do support physx will get a very big performance increase with the 177 drivers, so if you start playing a game that uses it, install the 177 drivers.

well what do you know....

i had to reinstall Windows lately and after i did GRID would run sort of funny on some tracks / levels. i chalked it up to the fact i'm using a "direct play" copy of the game and the fact i had to uninstall / reinstall the game a few times because i'm a nub

anyway i got a new video card and its awesome...and GRID performance increased nicely even at higher resolution....but the weird intermittent "jitters" on o few tracks remained.

until i read the above post and at last....satisfaction!

uninstalled the 177.92's and reinstalled the 175.16's.

now GRID is perfect

its all gravy, baby :pimp:

Hmm, I am installing a second 8800gt, going to have to download them both and do some testing.

When I installed 175.16's, I had very strange bugs. My digital monitor would turn off and on while my analog wouldn't go above 800x600. Needless to say games didnt run. I installed the latest physx pack and everything runs good for me. 8800gt 700/975

I think with all the new hardware coming out so often, drivers get overlooked to a degree.

177.92 seems to be quite a balanced package.

there are brand new drivers out, and they cover the 8800GT as well. The release notes mention performance increase in many games, crysis was one of them.

178.13 is the one i found. it was even in TPU news 2-3 days ago.
