The Gigabyte board has better power componentry. That's enough for me to choose the Gigabyte board.

Go with the Gigabyte board. The only board I would be leery on with overclocking is that asrock one. It's a 4+1 phase board. The gigabyte is 8+2 so it can handle more current than the other.

As others have said, the Gigabyte motherboard will probably be more reliable/sustain a mild overclock compared to the ASRock one due to the more robust power circuitry.

A little off topic, but I have an ASRock A770DE+ (4+1 phase VRM) and an original Phenom 9750 (with a 400MHz OC to 2.8GHz), and the board's VRM circuit will squeal under load at that OC. My Crosshair III Formula (8+2 phase VRM) comfortably runs a Phenom II 955 BE @ 3.9GHz with barely any voltage dip and no noise from the circuitry. Then again, I'm comparing a $55 board to a $200 one, but the quality of the voltage regulation circuit for the CPU plays a major role in the lifespan of a board, especially when overclocking.

my old destroyer mobo is a 4+1 heatsinked,BUT the vrm quality must be good as i've caned this board hard for years and only once did it throw the toys out the pram

the heatsinks on both those boards looks ok but not encouraging if you know what i mean.

Should be able to on either. Also i would opt for the gigabyte as well. The chipset is better and the vrm phases are better. That alone worth the premium(if any).

Since p45 sereis i never switch, only gigabyte's motherboards, i like extreme overcklocking so i find what look for.
