Hello everyone,

I have a few questions about the temperatures of my Gainward Phoenix RTX 5070ti graphics card.

During the Furmark Stress test, I get an average of 72-74 degrees at full load.

In the Unigine Heaven, Valley and Superposition tests, I get temperatures between 65-67 degrees.

In games (Cyberpunk, AC Mirage and Valhalla, Red Dead Redemption etc.), I get an average of 62-65 degrees.

When the card is idle, it works at an average of 52-54 degrees.

Are these values normal?

My Asus TUF RTX 4070TI Super graphics card, which I used before, gave similar results, but I still wanted to ask.

My system has a Corsair 7000x case and an RM 1000x Shift power supply. And in my case, there are 4 Be Quiet Pure Wings 4 140mm High PWM fans, 3 in the front and 1 exhaust. Air circulation in my case is quite good.

Still, I wanted to ask, I would be glad if you could give me an idea about these temperature values.

Idle is high. 20C ambient and zotac solid has 32C idle. But 72C furmark. But idle temperature is not important.

The idle temperature seems high to me too.

It is around 73 degrees in the Furmark stress test. In games, it is between 63-66.

Do you have another device in pc case that produces heat and pushes onto the graphics card?

There are 5 nvme on the motherboard. Since all the slots are full, the temperature of the motherboard may be affecting it a little.

Is the mobo vertical or horizontal?

Motherboard is vertical. Gpu horizontal
So, heating nvme drives creep heat through mobo metal and conduction of heated air. Hot air go up. Even at just 10Watts, it could heat the stopped-fan state of gpu by 10 degrees I guess.

I don't think it will affect it though. I'll check the idle temperature again.

Interestingly, my idle temperature is high. What could be the reason for this?

There are a total of 7 fans in my case setup.

3 Be Quiet PureWings 3 140mm in the front, giving fresh air. I run it at an average of 700-800rpm.
1 Be Quiet PureWings 3 140mm exhaust fan, throwing hot air out. I run it at an average of 700rpm.
3 SilentWings 120mm fans throw hot air out over the radiator. I run it at an average of 900-1100rpm.

When used in this way, the idle temperature of the graphics card starts at 41 degrees. It goes up to 59 degrees. It fluctuates between 52-57 on average. It consumes an average of 21-24 watts of power.

As I said, in games under load, it is around 67 degrees. I lowered the temperature under load to 60 degrees with 890mv and 2800Mhz speed by doing a little undervolt.

But I can't understand why the idle temperature value is like this when I'm not using the card. What could be the reason? Could I be experiencing this problem because of the driver?

Maybe your case fans are wired to cpu temperatures. Check that.

It isn't. It's normal for a card that draws 20+w in idle when fans are in 0db mode. At least for heatsink of his size. I had a 3080 that kept the card under 50 in 0db mode despite idling at 30w (!), but it had a heatsink that weighed a ton.

I had activated silent mode while adjusting the fan speeds. I switched it to manual and set my own fan profile.

Then I don't have to worry about idle temperatures. Up to 60 degrees idle temperatures are not a problem, after 60 the fans are already activated. Am I understanding correctly?

Check your GPU fan's RPM value in afterburner when idling, if it's 0 then it's how the card is designed to work

Fans do not work below 60 degrees. It gradually increases when it exceeds 60 degrees.

Only the idle temperatures worried me.

My 4070 Dual from Asus is about 45-47ºC while browsing in a 26ºC ambient. Ambient temperature and idle case fans rpm are important when the card is passive cooled, with the zero-fan feature on.

Depending on how much power it's drawing at idle, assuming a 0 dB mode on the fans, the idle temp could be explained. The 0 dB mode is not an issue, it's a feature. Most contemporary cards do not require active cooling at idle, and turning the fans off lowers both wear and noise.

How many watts is your card drawing at idle? That would be the primary determinant here. In any case, the temperature values by themselves don't strike me as anything you should be worried about.

I think most of us are overly concerned about temperature, cause we do not know if we can trust manufacturers.

In a good design 50-60 or even more is not an issue, a pcb can take upwards to 130c, most ic seem to make it to a 100, same for capacitors. The issue is if the right components are there, my guess is that they are.

Guru3D has some thermals of Palit (Galax) and they look ok, or there is no heat leaking trough the backplate (and it would if a lot).

I have the Gamerock 5070ti and it was costly so I worry, but my old Gigabyte 2080 still works and it was not high end, same for my 1660 Super etc….
