Who makes the best game controller for the PC.

I'm looking for the two joysticks and buttons etc like the ps/3 ones.

Wired Xbox 360 controller. I do like the feel of PS2 and PS3 controllers better, but the Xbox 360 controller most likely has better support with games. Plus, I guess I'm finally used to the 360 controller over the PS2/3.

well i was brought up on ps/ps2 for gaming then moved to pc's so the controller i use from logitech is basically a ps2 controller. i'd say it all depends on what your more comfortable with, if your a playstation fan controller id suggest something like i have.

that one says it wireless personally id stay away from wireless, because when the batteries die and your just about to win the race or complete the level u have been working on all afternoon, your pretty much screwed unless u have batteries at the ready.or if its chargable, then u have to charge it and wait....

I bought this one the other day for $15. It's an inexpensive one made in China. Windows recognised it right away. The driver goes back to 2006.

I'm wondering if the quality is all the same on them. I can't seem to get it to work with GTA4.

What I'm really wondering is if the more expensive ones will be more precise.

btw, what a difference having the extra buttons makes and they fire quicker than the mouse buttons do..

Most of the games on the PC that are designed to use a controller were likely made for the 360 anyways. So if compatability = precision, then yes. Plus, I must say I think the 360 controllers are quality stuff.

have u tried letting windows find the controller or did u install the drivers for that controller. with my logitech joystick i get better performance letting windows install drivers instead of using the drivers that are actually made for it, lmao. :)

edit: nice car in your av erocker. would love to take a rip in that!

Just brought it home and hot plugged it in!

And let windows find the driver. I couldn't find a sector 7 website to download them from.

360 controller all the way. Best gamepad ever made imo. And the wireless ones (branded for PC) come with the dongle to connect it with your PC (but not the ones branded for xbox) It will say specifically if it has the dongle and you will be able to see it in the package. And you can get a play and charge kit that will eliminate the battery problem. You can plug it straight into a usb port on your computer and it will charge while you play. As for batteries dying during play, the light ring on the controller starts flashing around 20 minutes before your batteries die, so if you lost connection during gameplay thats your own fault.

nice, i was talkin from experience on an old logitech wireless mouse n keyboard combo, that took double aa's. it gave you no warning just died and you were standing still to be killed, untill you could quickly swap the batteries.

yea i had the same thing happen all the freakin time with my old logitec. After I bought a 360 I bought a wireless for my PC and never looked back. (btw it also bears mentioning that the ones you buy for pc are also seamlessly compatible with xbox360's) Wired ones are interchangable between pcs and xbox360's with no additional hardware.

Yeah, I did that as soon as I got it. There's nothing for the model number out there. I'll go back and see if there are any driver sites out there.

No manual was included, and not really anything else.

In all fairness the n64 controller was a great controller if it had just been durable. Very versitile, multiple hand configurations, plenty of buttons and the advent of the thumbstick... if it had just held up to all the times you threw against the wall when your friend hit you with a red turtle shell in mario kart it would have been great. And in goldeneye you could even use two of them for the single player game for dual thumbsticks! genious imo. As for PS controllers... i know alot of people like them but I just cant see why. I dont really have big hands, and even for me its so cramped I cant use it. Like you said tho, whatever floats your boat. Its your hands, get something that fits. However in terms of quality and usability as well as compatibility, xbox wins hands down.

+1 xbox 360 controller

I used a ps2 via a usb adaptor, but i always have to configure the games, and half of them dont even detected the pad, also almost all games are designed for the 360 controller for good or bad (i like the ps3 pad more as i feel its more precise), but i bought the 360 controller and all games work great out of the box (Shift was unplayable with my ps2 pad)

As for the quality, the left analog stick, is too sensitive, so it moves itself to the left, no problem in PC since i set a dead zone of 15%, but in a console the same pad cant be used since it moves without even touch it:shadedshu
But i have the same problem with 2 ps3 pads, weird none of my 5 ps2 or 2 xbox1 pads did that:confused:

In my opinion for PC the 360 pad is the best option since it will be compatible with almost all games.

Wired or wireless? i feel the wireless pad too bulky and heavy, so for me it would be the wired one.:rockout:

Good luck in your quest for the holy pad!!!:D

I just got a playstation 2 --> USB adapter off ebay for $10.

Now my existing PS2 controllers are back at work :D.

Games made by EA (FIFA/NFS/etc) pick it up straight away and not only that, have an automatic controller configuration set so it's pretty much like it is on PS2.

On the other hand, I can't get GTAIV working with it (just like you), although I haven't really looked into it.

360 controller works great. I have the wireless one, I won it for playing games on the m$ live search club games. I have used it on games as old as Need for Speed underground without issue.
