Games and OC stability...are games good enough of a test?

ok so i OCed my cpu to 2.49 from 1.8 and what iwanted to know was if im able to play hrs of games like oblivian and NFS MW and BF2 does that mean i have a stable OC? i idle at 31c and load around 40c or so...and its all on air..and i know about prime 95 but wanted to know about games

Try out Prime95, and keep it running all night. Some people even do it for 48hours, depends on what you think stable is. I turn my computer off, so I'd say just an all-nighter is allright.

damnit...lol...i dodnt edit it quick enough about prime95...but thanks...lol

Usually, when I sleep, I do Prime95, then when I wake up (20 hours later, lol), that's when I stop it.

i just play fear...1280*1024 with all setting maxed ( i no i get like 25 fps) and just keep it on when there are alot of people for like 2 hours and see if i can still use the internet...:laugh:

ok well i ask cause on prime 95 i cant get it to go past the first set,but on those games i mentioned i can play them all on high for hours and it runs fine

Games aren't good to benchmark. Prime95 is the best for testing how stable your CPU is. At first I tried testing my 3200+ @ 2.55Ghz stock volts. I could get to Windows, and use it fine, but Prime95 failed quickly. But I was still able to play games. After a while, Windows crashed and a blue screen appear. So it wasn't stable. If you can play games for a few hours, it's eventually gonna crash.

try to get that pi compiler and run it for like 4 days and see how ur comp goes?
