Hello fellow TPU members,

As a continuation of the thread I did in 2016, 2017 and 2018, I'd love it if you can share the list of games that you beat in 2019. Just to clarify, what I mean is games that you beat in the year 2019, not necessarily games that only came out in 2018. It can came out in 5 or even 20 years ago. Anything goes here.
.
As per the year before, the purpose of these topics is to have a recap of games you've played and have completed this year for recap's sake and also as a study to see the trend going forward. As with last year, I consider the games to be finished once we see the end credits roll out (or other similar version) but not all games have these (sports, racing, sims), so for those games, you decide for yourself whether you've already finished the game essentially or not. No platform is restrictive here, whether you beat it on PC, consoles, emulators, web, phones or a calculator, they all count. It would also be neat if you can share what games (or moments but please put them in spoiler tags) you think deserve a highlight so that others may take an interest in them as well.

I'll start,
  1. Assassin's Creed Origins (PC)
  2. Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony (PC)
  3. Strange Brigade (PC)
  4. Tales of Berseria (PC)
  5. Yakuza 0 (PC)

I've only finished 5 games in 2019— a huge decrease compared to previous years due to having less time to play and PC issues (for over 3 months). Not to mention, I've also gotten back to laddering StarCraft II throughout the year, and that also takes up a huge amount of my gaming time. Still, even for "just" 5 games, I'd say these are quality games overall. Hopefully, 2020 will be even better.

I'm playing too many games simultaneously, so finishing anything isn't really a target.
However, I did manage to finally finish Alien Isolation which I bought almost four years ago, but it scared the pants off me so I kept leaving it.
I finished Shadow Of The Tomb Raider sometime in 2019.

Benchmark Scores Faster than the tortoise; slower than the hare.
Reverse order since I started keeping track.

12/31/2019 Edge of Space (Steam) Did all there really was to do. More there than I expected.
12/29/2019 Magicka 2 (Steam) CAMPAIGN: Better co-op.
12/28/2019 Venetica (Steam) CAMPAIGN: Really liked it despite all the crashing.
12/26/2019 Totally Accurate Battle Simulator (EGS) CAMPAIGNS: All of them that are currently available.
12/25/2019 DashBored (Steam) BORED: Put me to sleep in less than 20 minutes. Might be a new record.
12/25/2019 The Messenger (EGS) CAMPAIGN + some DLC: DLC pissed me off so I quit. Controls suck and checkpoints aren't where they need to be. Surprised I put up with it as long as I did.
12/23/2019 Superhot (EGS) CAMPAIGN + a bunch of challenges
12/23/2019 Lost Horizon 2 (GOG) CAMPAIGN: The worst of the six Animation Arts games.
12/23/2019 Bad North (EGS) 25 TURNS IN: Got bored. Game is too repetitive, not very rewarding, and not very challenging.
12/23/2019 Lost Horizon (GOG) CAMPAIGN: It's not a bad game but I really need to stop buying point & click adventures.
12/22/2019 Ruiner (EGS) CAMPAIGN: Finished it on hard.
12/21/2019 Serial Cleaner (Steam) CAMPAIGN: I was bored by contract 11'ish or so but managed to finish it. It should be a game that appeals to me...but doesn't. I think it's the art style. It's so minimalist it fails to convey where the player can walk and what will block sight cones. Forces reliance on trial and error without any quick save/quick load. It's pretty easy compared to, say, Hotline Miami but like Hotline Miami, it is an exercise in repetition.
12/20/2019 Pillars of Eternity (Origin) CAMPAIGN: Broke out the hacks to make it tolerable. Still feel that it was a waste of time.
12/16/2019 Torment: Tides of Numenera (Origin) CAMPAIGN: Good game after the slow start.
12/10/2019 Into the Breach (Origin) CAMPAIGN 15x
12/08/2019 Frostpunk (Origin) SCENARIOS+ENDLESS
12/05/2019 Yooka-Laylee (Origin) CAMPAIGN: Almost quit but didn't.
12/03/2019 A Ghost of a Tale (Origin) CAMPAIGN
12/01/2019 Unravel Two (Origin) CAMPAIGN
11/30/2019 Mirror's Edge: Catalyst (Origin) CAMPAIGN
11/29/2019 Vampyre (Origin) CAMPAIGN: really wish it didn't use an autosave system and the combat is fairly annoying with only 5 XP per kill awarded for street fights. All of the respawning fodder gets annoying.
11/26/2019 Titanfall 2 (Origin) CAMPAIGN
11/26/2019 Dungeons 3 (Steam) 100% ACHIEVEMENTS
11/18/2019 Secret Files 3 (GOG) CAMPAIGN
11/17/2019 Dungeons - The Dark Lord (Steam) CAMPAIGN: Much shorter than I was expecting.
11/16/2019 Secret Files 2: Puritas Cordis (GOG) CAMPAIGN
11/15/2019 Dungeons (Steam) CAMPAIGN
11/11/2019 Secret Files: Sam Peters (GOG) CAMPAIGN: That was surprisingly short.
11/04/2019 Party Hard Tycoon (Steam) CAMPAIGN: It's Early Access.
11/02/2019 Secret Files: Tunguska (GOG) CAMPAIGN
10/31/2019 Party Hard (Steam) 100% ACHIEVEMENTS
10/30/2019 Shoppe Keep (Steam) 100% ACHIEVEMENTS
10/29/2019 Dwarfs!? (Steam) 100% ACHIEVEMENTS
10/28/2019 Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets CAMPAIGN
10/27/2019 Q.U.B.E. 2 (EGS) CAMPAIGN: It's like Portal 2 but not as good.
10/27/2019 Surviving Mars (EGS) BORED: Played all I am going to play.
10/20/2019 Siege of Centauri (Steam) 100% ACHIEVEMENTS: All but two stars that are bugged.
10/19/2019 The Settlers: Rise of an Empire (GOG) CAMPAIGN
10/16/2019 Dark (Steam) 90% ACHIEVEMENTS: Two require speed and one requires VR, not interested.
10/14/2019 This War of Mine (Steam) 100% ACHIEVEMENTS
10/11/2019 Last Day of June (EGS) CAMPAIGN
10/10/2019 Anomaly Warzone Earth Mobile Campaign (Steam) 97% ACHIEVEMENTS: Last one is bugged.
10/09/2019 Inside (EGS) CAMPAIGN
10/09/2019 Anomaly Korea (Steam) 100% ACHIEVEMENTS
10/07/2019 Everything (EGS) BORED: Better than a walking simulator but not by much. Had enough after an hour.
10/07/2019 Minit (EGS) CAMPAIGN
10/07/2019 The Room 3 (Steam) 100% ACHIEVEMENTS
10/06/2019 Rebel Cops (Steam) 100% ACHIEVEMENTS
10/03/2019 Project Highrise (Steam) 100% ACHIEVEMENTS: There's more scenarios to do but...yeah...I've had enough.
10/02/2019 This is the Police 2 (Steam) 100%
09/26/2019 The Sims 4 (Origin) BORED: Witnessed no less than two bugs in a game that should be pretty damn mature. Game feels more like a fruitless grind than the three before it. Hate the whole mood system. Not a fan of the frequency of people coming to visit/requests to visit. Fast forward with a Sim present is slower than it was in privious games so it arificially drags itself out. Build/buy mode is terrible to use. I really have nothing good to say about it; glad I got it for free. The Sims 3 is still the pinnacle of the franchise. Seriously, they just need to make it 64-bit and spit shine the graphics and they'll have the best Sims game ever they can keep releasing content for over a decade.
09/19/2019 Human: Fall Flat (Steam) CAMPAIGN
09/19/2019 KIDS (Steam) DONE: Uh?
09/16/2019 Distrust (Steam) ALMOST 100%: One grind achievement I didn't get.
09/15/2019 Syndicate Plus (GOG) PLAYED: Mostly just wanted to see what it was like. It was released in 1993 so...it's pretty terrible. That said, it's more fun than EA's Syndicate reboot which clearly has nothing to do with the original. Sad.
09/15/2019 Obduction (GOG) CAMPAIGN: Way better than the Myst games of yore. Good job Cyan.
09/14/2019 Watch_Dogs 2 (Steam) CAMPAIGN: Didn't do any of the co-op stuff and didn't search the world for all the research points (already have what I need).
09/07/2019 Hyper Light Drifter (EGS) CAMPAIGN: Game is not very fun for many reasons but chief among them is combat.
09/06/2019 Mutant Year Zero (EGS) CAMPAIGN
09/02/2019 Phoenix Wight (Steam) CAMPAIGN
08/25/2019 Unheard (Steam) 100%
08/24/2019 Pharaoh + Cleopatra (GOG) FRUSTRATED/BORED: Game has so many usability problems. It's fun on the small scale but when they start breaking up maps with rivers and throwing enemies at you, the fun really vanishes. And disease. Lots of physicians and apothracaries but they don't go where they are needed, they patrol randomly, so it's very inefficient. Not a fan.
08/22/2019 Tunestruck (GOG) DONE
08/21/2019 Valkyria Chronicles (Steam) 100% I replayed the entire campaign using a cleared save to jog my memory on the lore. Also discovered two DLCs that I never played which I got A ranks on.
08/19/2019 Valkyia Chronicles 4 (Steam) 100%
08/11/2019 City of Brass (EGS) CAMPAIGN/BORED
08/11/2019 Overcooked (EGS) NEEDS CO-OP: Finished first area of the campaign but then it became immediately clear this can't be solo'd anymore.
08/10/2019 GNOG (EGS) DONE
08/10/2019 X-Morph: Defense (Steam) BORED: All that's left is achievement and survival grind.
08/07/2019 The Church of Darkness (Steam) BUGGY: Will play again after some patching.
08/05/2019 Don't Starve (Steam) MEH: Game wasn't what I was expecting. Was hoping for a relaxing survival game like Minecraft or Medieval Engineers but it's not. It's a roguelike with little in the way of progression. You make one mistake, you got to start over from scratch with no benefits other than maybe another character unlocked. I'll probably play more of the Hamlet expansion at some point but just isn't a game I can see spending much more time in, sadly. It suffers from no carrot to chase syndrome. I'd rather play Rimworld for a similar experience or Oxygen Not Included by the same dev for a better experience (pace yourself).
08/04/2019 Medieval Engineers (Steam) BORED: Can't find iron.
08/03/2019 Lego Worlds (Steam) BORED: Basically have to wait for RNG events to occur to progress. Too primitive. Adventure mode isn't much of a campaign. No carrot to chase other than gold bricks.
07/31/2019 Train Valley (GOG) 100%
07/29/2019 Moonlighter (EGS) CAMPAIGN
07/25/2019 Rising World (Steam) BORED: No carrot to chase.
07/27/2019 Rime (EGS) CAMPAIGN
07/22/2019 LEGO City Undercover (Steam) 100%

I like that idea. I kinda want to spend a year just to replay all of the older games that I love. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm gonna do it cause any time spent on replaying older games is less time spent on games I've never played. I do replay some of the older stuff that I really like from time to time though like Chrono Trigger and Fable but boy, some of the newer games I've played definitely deserve another playthrough.

It has that drawback. I used to feel like I was doing something wrong replaying my favorites from the past instead of the huge amount of newer games that I have available to play but, for me, gaming is about fun and if it's fun for me to replay older games every 3 or 4 years then that's all that matters. I will spend the next 3 years playing more recent games from my backlog sprinkled with some older games that I missed playing back in the day. Also I will be taking early retirement in 3 years and will have plenty of time to play catch up then as well.

These are new games that I finished in 2019:
Metro: Exodus
Wolfenstein Youngblood
Shadow of The Tomb Raider

There are some of older games that I replay. Some that I remember:
Max Payne
F.E.A.R
GTA San Andreas (I play this annually, sometimes more than once a year. I think I'm on 16th playthrough)
The Witcher 3 (2nd playthrough main quest)
Need For Speed Underground (3rd playthrough)
Need For Speed Most Wanted (2nd playthrough)
Borderlands 2 (finished the game twice in 2019 co-op with friends, plus its DLC)
CnC Red Alert (finished Allied campaign)
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (3th playthrough)
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II The Sith Lords (5th playthrough, installed the Restored content)

Maybe more, I just don't keep track of things. And this is not includes the game I havent finished yet like Mass Effect, TESIV Oblivion, The Outer Worlds, Borderlands 3 etc.

I own about a hundred games, maybe a bit more and I haven't finished one of them. Some of them I haven't started yet :D

I do play Mario with my kids on the WiiU and Switch, and we try to finish those. We have done 3D world 3 times now, and Odyssey twice. Working on the others occasionally..

I hate to say it, but I think the only game I finished was Super Mario Land on the original Gameboy when I was like 10 or 11. With the help of Nintendo Power of course

@lexluthermiester so I'm guessing that's the original Secret of Mana and not the remake? I know you've said you already finished the remake before.

I beat my neighbor, I beat my neighbors kids in monopoly, I beat other things too, but I'd like to beat CRS. :respect: :kookoo:

There were only a couple games I play that you actually can beat most recent is The Bard's Tale IV:Barrows Deep. The rest I played survival games so if surviving long enough to be force to start over, that realm belongs to 7 Days to Die, Conan Exiles solo gets the honorable mention.

I'm glad to see that some people are still playing the Father of the FPS. I've played it a little but never finished it. It's quite a challenge.

I'm hoping one day they will do a remaster of the 27 year old game and leave it exactly as it plays but just give it a graphics face-lift and support for modern resolutions. That's probably the only way that modern gamers will give it a play.

A face lift would be outstanding!!!
I cheated and used a walk through. So many hidden gems in that game, be damned to remember them all lol.

I don't really remember and that is not good:
Far Cry 5
Warhammer 40k Mechanicus
The Division 2
A lot of TW Warhammer 2 campaigns, about 500 hours worth.
Warhammer Inquisitor Marty
Warhammer Chaosbane
Warhammer Vermintide 1 and 2.

Except Total War Warhammer 2(DLCs), Far Cry 5 and The Division 2, 2019 for me was a poor year in gaming.

But i got lucky with a really cheap RTX 2080 so i'm covered for 2020. Cyberpunk 2077, Necromunda Underhive, Vampire TM 2, IGI Origins, Ready or Not and SEA POWER.
This are my, must buy games when/if they launch in 2020.
