Games you got rid of once finished.

Time for another comments posting.

This time, i'd like to share some of the games i purchased (some at full price) and after playing once, got really bored and did not even want to play it again.

Some of these games had raving reviews but in the end where just discarded after one use.

So here's my little list:

Doom 3 Spooky! but once the the big bad demon was dead so was the game.
Half Life 1 & 2 Nice story!
System Shock 2 I know that u can choose different skills but who cares!
Tomb Raider Any of them, just pick one.
Medal of Honor Great game! too bad i did not survive a second wave.
UFO Aftermath What a joke
Thief 3 Should have played easy first then Expert. Oh well.

You see a pattern here. Most of these are too linear for my taste. That's why i like games that give you more options and strategies. I may have more but i can't remember just now.

I get bored of all games just a matter of when.

Games like Ghost Recon, OFP, Arma, NWN1 and COH \OF took years to get bored of due to community mods missions and tournys that they or we were doing. In fact still enjoying COH.

Games like Bioshock, The Witcher Hitman all though these are great games i played will likly not play them again and just be storage lol. All though i keep most installed just in case.


Games with COOP ( Real COOP ) i will pay top doller for. If the game has a good plot \ story good playability and a possible what if i'll buy it sooner or later pending how the cash flow is.

F.E.A.R just didn't interest me after playing other FPS + the latest Doom + UT3 + A LOT of others too but i can't remember them. I generally don't buy games for this reason, i download them, try them and if i like them then i will go out and buy them for the online and update options, there's no way i would pay $50 to use something for 1-5rs of gameplay.

oops misunderstood - All these games i got rid of after a few hours of playing.

There aren't many games i go back to that i finish unless they have good mulitplayer.

I've tried going back to fallout 3 - but damn after the story's over there's little incentive for me - i want something new.

Virtually every FPS (except for the select few w/ exceptional multi: Halo, Goldeneye/Perfect Dark), most RPGs (except for Oblivion really, and a couple FF that I re-enjoyed many years after the first run-through). Both of those types of games I can enjoy very much the first time through, but I don't even bother w/ a second b/c I know it just won't do it for me. RTS and Sim games are really the only ones I continue playing years after I get them.

i guess youve never been online. one of the biggest online games since starcraft, and still supporting hundreds of thousands of people per day.
been playing for 6+ years.

Diablo 2, annoys me soo much cant get past that swamp place just after the desert place(which took like a month on the 1st try) keep going back for more though

I made 81lvl in single version,and 87 on battle.net version with barbarian.though i didnt get rid of it,i still got it somwhere at home in Latvia.

I only play through my games once, with the exception of GTA.

I usually keep the games I finished (too many to name) or got bored with & if I can, I'll sell them again.

I agree. That game had me addicted by the multi, and then the expansion pack sucked me back in for another year. Definitely played them for about 3 years.

As for games I have played once then never again:
Star Wars Clone Commando (or whatever it was called...you were the clone trooper squad)
Star Wars Force Commander (ugh terrible)
Far Cry 2 when I finish it
CoD 3 on the 360
Deus Ex Invisible War
Doom 3
F.E.A.R (though I really liked it...)

Bad character build. You should try Median XL which is 10X harder than Vanilla D2.

Yep, I did. I didn't like the multiplayer. I never could learn to play due to getting my ass handed to me 5 seconds after spawning. Single player just wasn't worth it to go back through.

Some new games that i played in 2008 (i'm 28 years old , can't make a list of all games from zx spectrum nintendo , sega ....etc.) that i didn't play after i finished them are crysis,crysis warhead , bioshock , all c&c's , star wars empire at war , a space action/adventure game i don't remeber it's name darkstar or something , NFS pro street , grid racer (didn't finished it , i got bored really fast ) , COD4 , COH OP ... and some wich i might forgot.
Games that i will play even after i finish them are Galactiv civ , sins of a solar empire , Team fortress 2 , GTA 4 for cruising around killing people and maybe online if it doesn't get too cheat crowded and that's about it , few games can pick my interest to play them again , maybe is my age but i'm getting less and less impresse by the games of the new times, there are lots of very very stupid games out there like assasin creed , far cry 2 , left 4 dead , dead space , NFS's , bioshock .... brainlles shooting games , repetitive stuff , it's just done over and over again but with nicer graphics and different story.
Good games like WOW , TF2 and some i don't know about or don't play will survive time very well but the the rest of stupid games will be burried.
Kidds that discover a FPS or RPG for the first time they are blown away and remember those games , me at my age and after so many games i'm not very impressed , an 8-8.5 even 9 game (from 1 to 10 ) means the game is bad , a 9.5-10 game means it could worth my time if the review wasn't paid for to get that score .
The future of gaming is online , at least for who wants to make the big bucks and for the consumer that really wants to be entertained
