So I've been dying to get a laptop that could do some gaming and be able to watch some movies and fully enjoy them (I'll be downloading them from my desktop and such over wifi). so a 1920 x 1080 resolution is what I was looking for and I came across this

Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p (59375625) Intel Core i7 4700...

Is this a good deal? I've heard the hdd that comes with it is slower than some like. I play current games, and I want something that performs somewhat close to my desktop if thats possible. What do you guys think? Should i get something with an optical drive? or just get a usb one if I ever need it for something.

I was considering the Y500 for $850 but just couldn't muster the money a few weeks ago. That seems like a very good laptop though! A class-mate of mine has an MSI G70 iirc and it is one sweet gaming laptop.

Check this site out:

And yes I'm sure that Y510 is a sweet piece for that price! But keep doing some research too! Make sure it's got what you want. I'm sure those dual 750's will churn out some nice GFX at 1080! No need for an optical drive with wifi and usb in all honesty...get a usb converter for a cheap sata dvd drive if ya need a cheap solution there.

I was looking into this exact laptop about 3 weeks ago. I ended up going with this one:

I am using it for the same sort of stuff you are =)
