Why don't they make 15k HDs for SATA or why don't they put SCSI on gaming MBs?

    What are expresscard slots?

Why does Alienware use SSDs in some of their gaming rigs when I hear that SSDs don't have the throughput that reg. HDs have?

    1. They don't think many people will pay the price premium? From my perspective, SCSI on the high-end desktop died out when they stopped making SCSI opticals.

    2. PCI Express for laptops.

    3. SSD have a near constant read and write speed along with an exceptionally low access time (< 1ms). They're also well suited for RAID. Mechanical hard drives have a much higher access time and only shine during sequential read and writes.

So if you put your OS & games on a SSD, would it make the loads faster & would it affect anything else?

Gaming doesn't rely on storage much, just for loading. After that everything is read form the system memory. Buying higher end storage for gaming is a waste.

SCSI is relatively expensive, if you want it on your gaming system buy a controller. Nothing is preventing you from doing so. It won't help you much though.

I heard that it bottlenecks at the controller, so it will be useless to put them in & you'd be better off putting in a 10k.

So, has anyone heard of anyone putting SSDs in their computer? Has anyone hear anything about good SSDs?
