From what is currently known about Coffee Lake pricing (stays the same as current Kaby Lake range, while adding 2c to i5 and 2c/4t to i7) i'd still stay with Ryzen.

Guessing, though.

Hello again! I am wondering if I go with the Seagate FireCuda Gaming SSHD will I need any other storage?

I'll +1 that. Note that the motherboards will most likely cost $100 more than the one in this build.

There's nothing wrong with your configuration, but here is my 2 cents:
When I build a computer, especially with a window, I try to have the parts look good together as well. You have a black case, a brown motherboard and an aluminium HSF. That is a smoking deal on that motherboard, but.... it brown. A CRYORIG H7 is about the same money, does a better job while being quieter, and has a nice looking black top. That and the Thermalright True Spirit 140 were reviewed here on TPU and did quite well.

I recommend the Seagate FireCuda Gaming SSHD 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" drive, with its 5 year warranty (and it happens to be on sale right now) over a SSD/ cheap HDD (those 2 year warranty HDD's make me shutter) setup. Unless you're going to be moving games on and off of the SSD, it will not help your gaming performance. An SSD will improve boot times and will make programs that run off of it run faster, but that's it. The FireCuda drive has an 8 GB (SSD like) cache where it stores often used programs, so boot times are improved as well. And that frees up $100 to spend somewhere else.

This deal ends at midnight today: You could save $30 by going with Seasonic FOCUS Plus Series SSR-550FX 550W 80+ Gold. 550 watts is plenty.

Here's my go to for WiFi at $39: ASUS PCE-AC55BT B1 AC1200 Dual-Band PCIe Wi-Fi Adapter Featuring Bluetooth 4.2 IEEE 802.11ac, IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n PCI Express Up to 1.2Gbps Wireless Data Rates Bluetooth can be useful as well.

Since they come in 1 or 2 TB capacities, I would think that would do for at least a while.

Hello forum!

I've built my pc! There is a 3 part series on my youtube documenting the process:

Now I'm wondering what speed internet I should get for streaming on twitch while playing on steam. 1000mbps is the fastest Comcast offers to my area, but I feel like that is overkill. Up to 400mbps for $80/month or up to 1000mbps for $90/month. Those prices jump up after 12 months.

Any advice welcome!

I stream 1080p@60fps on twitch. Bitrate 6k. I’m on spectrum 400/20 internet. No problem with streaming but it really depends on how many devices. If you got many. I suggest QOS on your router. What kind of router do you have? You should get atleast 10 or 20 upload speed if you want a nice stream

I don't have many devices, no. Just my phone really.

I just got the CM600 Modem by Netgear. Planning to just use Ethernet since I didn't build in wifi capabilities to my pc yet.

So do you think the 400 mbps plan will be fast enough?

If you're just streaming standard definition 1080P ,you shouldnt need anything over 2000 kb/s - 3000kb/s bitrate, which is 3 Mb per second upload speed. If you're going in 4K ,I'd recommend 6000kb/s, maybe a bit more ,but you have to fine-tune it based on what software you're using

btw, funny hill climbing video:rolleyes:

We need to know the upload speed. But most internet plans I see here in southern California usually have an upload from 5-30 mbps. As jboydgolfer said 3000 kb/s should be fine. Download speed isn't as important as upload for a streamer. So check to see if you have at least 6 mbps or higher upload. That would be fine for you.

Thanks jboydgolfer! That makes it easier choosing a plan. And thanks for the video compliment :-D

Awesome, thank you BadFrog!

Thanks everyone for the helpful advice.

So it sounds like I don't need to pay for an extremely fast plan. Why then does xfinity offer crazy high tiers? They suggest the 250mbps download for multiplayer gaming. Is it just to make more money?

Go with what you want. If it's too "slow" for you, you can always call and upgrade your internet package. If you watch Netflix 4k, then you will want a higher download speed as this is important. For streamers, its upload. So you want a good balance of both worlds. The speeds you list are ONLY download speeds. You will need to check the fine print for the upload speeds.
