Welcome to TPU Jason.
I do not know anything about 3D gaming but I am sure someone will be along shortly to help you out. It will be a big help if you can provide your system specs.

Hi

Welcome to TPU

If the HDTV has 2D->3D Conversion use that mode for games

Feel free to research TriDef 3D here
Note: TriDef 3D softwares are ok but will cause low fps when rendering 3D with certain game engines

With an AMD GPU you're going to be more limited on what games support 3D, but those I've read can be run with no addon software or hardware.

Here's an interesting thread on AVS that explains it:

I have an HD7970 too, but were I interested in 3D, I'd go Nvidia. Before you go investing in any hardware with specific features like 3D, esp for gaming, read up on it as much as you can before deciding what to buy.

BTW, there's a handy system spec chart under you avatar you can fill out. It helps people assist you when asking for advice. Just click your screen name in the upper right of the page, then System Specs.
