I'm talking about the driver release.
It could be before or after noon.
Lol, my bad, thought you were talking about the game.

Benchmark Scores Gears 5 : 87fps at 1080p
So, I am using Windows store version (thanks to UltimatePas for 2$).

On my Threadripper 1950x and Strix Vega 56, I am getting 87 avg in 1080p. I did download ultra high-res textures before benching. Everything was on ultra.

Temp went to 82C on GPU and 68C on CPU.
The highest clock on GPU was 1490Mhz (which is low, as my card goes to 1700Mhz in other games), and 4009Mhz on CPU. Not all cores have been used. CPU was actually very little taxed.

So this game is mostly GPU bound, and will run great on even quad cores I think.

Release Notes

Fixed Issues :
  • [Fortnite][CS:Go]: Eliminated cases of stutter when Ultra low latency mode was enabled. [2682105]
  • [Forza Motorsport 6/7]: The game may crash during gameplay. [2686338]
  • [World of Warcraft]: The game may flicker at the character-selection screen. [2684628]
  • [Notebook][GeForce GTX 970M]: The GPU clock speed on some notebooks is stuck at the base clock speed and does not boost. [2683147]
  • [GeForce RTX 20 series][Forza Horizon 4][Gears of War 4][Gears 5]: Colored corruption may appear on some surfaces throughout the game. [200544234]
  • [Firefox][G-SYNC]: When G-SYNC is enabled, flickering occurs with YouTube full-screen video playback on FireFox when hovering over the timeline. [200544130]
  • [Control][DirectX 12 ][Pascal GPUs]: Blue-screen crash occurs pointing to nvlddmkm.sys when in-game software Ray Tracing is enabled. [200543646]

Open Issues :
  • [G-SYNC]: NVIDIA G-SYNC might not be enabled automatically for monitors newly approved as G-SYNC-Compatible upon updating the driver. [200544252]
    • To work around, enable the monitor by opening the NVIDIA Control Panel->Display->Set Up G-SYNC page, then select the display and select Enable settings for the selected display.
  • [SpaceEngine]: The game crashes when launched. [2684322]
  • [UBOAT]: The game crashes due to memory allocation issues when launching Sandbox mode from the main menu. [2694301]
  • [Tom Clancy's The Division II]: The game may crash when played in DirectX 12 mode.[200406322]
  • [FIFA 19]: The game may crash to the desktop. [2690624]

great work as always! lately i find myself reading these performance tests more for your personal gameplay impressions than the performance numbers.. its the kind of wording that one would use with a friend to talk about a game

Whats going on with the GTX1660 in this game? Losing out the GTX 1060 3GB and AMD 570?
Time for some nVidia FineWine?

TC needs to enable Async Compute on nvidia's side so real performance testing can be done.
Mentioning that A-word to some nVidia fans won't sit well with them
You know how it was suppose to be the most useless feature ever according to some?

On my 6 years old Xeon 1230 with a 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 TI I get a very stable 60 FPS on Ultra quality while running the benchmark.

I don't understand how the reviewer got an 45 average FPS while using a much better CPU, Mobo and RAM and the same graphics card as mine.

Probably testing a different location of the game?

As far as I know the benchmark is very demanding and thus representative of the game's performance under heavy load.

Why would you use another portion of the game other than the benchmark without mentioning it? Wouldn't this make the result extremely difficult to replicate and compare?

Oh you are playing the benchmark? Awesome. I prefer playing the game :)

Because you most definitely have it set to maintain a minimum framerate of 60 in the video options. Turn that and Vsync off with Ultra settings and you will not average 60fps with a 1080Ti using the in-game benchmark.

Yeap, you were right. I turned off V sync and set the framerate to unlimited and still got an average FPS of 50.

I then retested different settings and noticed that using the Recommended settings (Vsync ON, minimum framerate 60 and every graphic setting on Ultra) I get a locked 60 FPS and around 80% of frames rendered at 4K.

I honestly prefer playing with Vsync and adaptive resolution because I struggled to notice any differences in quality between various benchmark runs.

That’s the way I prefer to play as well, but that is not how you benchmark, especially in a performance analysis. Also, if you read through the thread, there are reasons for the performance anomalies with some of the hardware due to the drivers used.

The 1080p results in this review are weird i must say. They do not line up with results of other benchmarks, while higher resolution results do line up. And it's not the driver version either, because results are all over the place for some of the both vendors cards, AMD and NV alike, i.e. RX570, 1660, 1060 etc. I don't know what's that about.
r u ok? the 3gb 1060 has never beaten the 6gb 1060 at anything let alone a 4k bench

Can we get an update for this Performance test using the latest Gears patch?

Async Compute is now available to Geforce parts.

Game seems mediocrity personified and graphically decent, nothing more. This is a game built from the ground up for the 1.3TF Xbox One remember.

If anything, this is a game built from the ground up for the Xbox One X AND THEN smartly optimized and tuned down sensibly to reach 1080p30 in campaign and 1080p60 in MP.

It would certainly explain how Gears 4 and 5 have such superb optimization on PC. Of course having Microsoft providing know how of DX12 certainly helps.
