iunno guys the GX2 seems to give the X2 a run, at least its not a complete heap of junk.

then again two G92's should be faster than two RV670's ..... keep on tweaking those drivers lads.

It seems like Nvidia is stalling out like I predicted.

This is a great time for ATI to get back into the game. :rockout:

And all this time I thought it was ATI who was the master at stalling 2900:)

In 2 weeks we will see what the GTX is made of, It will own or it will get owned and price 600+

even if they do tweak the drives, the ati is still cheaper, price vs performance

I'm sure the folks at ATI, Canada (and parent AMD at Sunnyvale) would be rubbing their hands with a greedy grin :D

It's almost certain I'm going red with my next card, whenever that happens.

Nice job AMD/ATI, even if the 9800 beats the X2 after drivers are sorted its a massive step in the right direction, all they need to do now is make the same progress in the cpu dept if AMD already haven't that is.

Cheers

The test is CPU bound. It is only using a Q6700. 14,000 is about all you are going to get out of a Q6700. I wait to see what the cards do with a non-CPU limitted machine at higher resolution.

Seems to me all it's just a oced 8800gts (g92). Since it is based off the g92 core,

http://en.expreview.com/2008/02/26/9800gtx-3dmark06-score-here-dont-be-too-excited/

(Also its testing with a x9650, so not a bottleneck here)

You cant really go much further. Here are some pics which I found also: (Are a little old, so you may have already seen)

http://www.vr-zone.com/articles/GeForce_9800_GTX_Card_Photos_%26_Specs_Unveiled/5599.html

It still just seems the 8800gt and 8800gts are still the best deal for your money. Also very power efficient also, since the 9800gtx will be consuming 168w of power. (2 PCIe's :()

Definitely true with the 9800GTX, I was talking about the dual GPU solutions being bottlenecked.

Ah, ok. Yeah especially with dual gpus, your cpu has to be good enough or else its going to bottleneck like crazy. :(

The old GTX had 384-bit memory interface the new GTX has 512-bit memory interface it will be a diffrent beast.

I do know that 2 G92 GTS in SLI go a lot harder even hard than ATI.

The new GTX will only have a 256-bit memory bus, not 512.

If the 9800gtx would have a 512-bit memory interface, the current core (a g92) couldent really use it to its full potential. It may increase in performance a bit, but really the extra cost of a 512-bit interface (which are expensive! :p) is not worth it, thats why they chose a 256-bit interface.

256-bit is good enough for me. :p

You know, ATI fans usually say this exact same thing when new ATI cards come out, and nvidia fans usually stomp mercilessly all over it, not giving any ATI card the slightest bit of slack.

3870 X2 owners -- enjoy it. You've earned it.

well im not the kind to stomp mercilessly on it, and nvidia drivers are usually pretty damn good at the time of release, so yeah enjoy it while it lasts X2 owners.

even my 3 months after comment aside, it is still pre release so when it actually comes out well see whats what.

and your right, ATi fans do say that exact thing, and its becuase it has happened with quite a few cards now.... this will be one of the few for nvidia where it is true.

i just want this card to come out already so we can actually see whats what, theres so much "leaked" crap around and bs speculation going on, we need a full on comprehensive review already!

and even if this card outright loses to ATi on price/performance or even 1 of the 2, then bravo ATi finally clawing back after 14+ months of getting your ass whipped.
