You insert it only in your pci-e slot, but the card is thick enough to 'cover' the slot immediately beneath it and you won't be able to put another card in that slot beneath it.

Yes, pci-e 2.0 cards are backward compatible.

(If I understood your previous post...) performance difference is very minimal. I myself am running a 5970 on an old motherboard with only a pci-e 1.0 slot. Performance in furmark is on par with other 5970 owners. Games aren't affected either.

With a GTS 450 you won't see any performance difference whether you use pci-e 1.1 or pci-e 2.0; heck I used one GTX 480 on a pci-e 1.1 and thre was no difference.

It sits between the 5750 and the 5770 but it has big overclocking headroom (although you can also overclock an HD 5770); I have an EVGA SC in my other system and does 930mhz on stock voltages and 983mhz with the voltage increase, the memory goes up to 2330mhz

The 5750 is only very slightly better. If you run both cards you wouldn't even notice. Just a marginal edge shows in benchmarks.

Basically, the 5750 and GTS 450 give the same performance.
