What is a "quad channel" kit?? Never heard of before?

Pretty sure marketing is dumb and they just assumed four sticks would be considered "quad" channel.

 yeah they meant 4x2gb... someone in marketing thought quad channel sounded cool. Unlessy theyre referring to server boards then its a bit off lol

still.. love these sticks, geil makes some awesome stuff.

Using four sticks on dual-socket boards. It's technically 'quad-channel', as the system has that much memory bandwidth at its disposal. That picture however, doesn't correctly show it. :)

Its for both Intel & AMD, for AMD dragon platform Phenom II series and should also work perfect with the core i5's and the core i7's 800 series:toast:

Is it me or does those timings look quiet good for the 2000mhz and 2133mhz memory speeds!

LMAO thats the only reason why this review captured my attention because of the quad channel, I new it was BS!!!

intel's DDR3 isn't voltage bound if you know how to increase the QPI voltage. Max voltage for i5/i7 DDR3 = CPUvtt+.5V

Looks like no heatspreaders. Also, I believe Quad Channel Memory is something AMD is working on for its platform to outdo the triple channel.

I think it's a marketing gimmick. The RAM still runs in dual channel, doesn't it? I do want the cas 6 2x2gb kit though. That is the perfect kit for an AM3 rig.

There was a thread long ago about "quad channel" ram. Ketxxx was showing his black dragons. There where some ddr2 boards that was built for just GeIL ram.. It could run the ram in "quad channel".
It's something GeIL have ran with since ddr2 times.. I'd like to see how they will do.. Their last line of black dragon's where a great hit/miss with how they preformed for their people..

Yeah, but can the memory controller run in quad channel? I would like to know more. :)

Here's a review that Toms hardware did on the matter.

What I found threw the net.

Simply put quad-channel refers to the number of communication paths between the cpu and ram. At the moment, mainstream, there's 2 paths hence running your ram in 'dual channel'. Putting 4 dimms into all four ram slots will just provide more ram per channel.

Looks like no heatspreaders.

Nonsense! They have Vapor-Y heatspreaders, meaning the heat is dissipated by vapor in the air, doing away with all of that copper silliness! Now technically speaking... Isn't everything a little bit water cooled? ;)

That said, while I appreciate heatspreaders, I am not entirely convinced that they do a whole heck of a lot. I would very much prefer RAM that can run at its rated specs without a spreader or direct air cooling, as it tends to imply that you will see an even greater gain from adding it aftermarket.
