So I've already got one ssd with my os on it and a copy of modern warfare. Now if I install another ssd or HDD do I have to buy another copy of windows. I plan on keeping my os on the current ssd.

No you do not need another copy of Windows. Your Operating System will simply assign them drive letters as you add more to the system.

You can even rename them by right-clicking on the drive and going to the “rename” in the drop down box, so you know which of your secondary drives are Games, or Storage, or whatever you choose.

Hi,

No need for another copy of Windows. Another drive (SSD or HDD) can be setup as another drive letter (D:, E:, F:, etc). There might be some minor configuration needed inside of Disk Manager to format and assign a drive letter.

Keep in mind that most drives don't come with a SATA cable so make sure you have an extra, or buy one to have when you install.

Good catch. I do this monthly just about, and completely forgot to mention it.

Most drives don't come with SATA cables, but your motherboard probably came with 2 to 4 of them. Check your motherboard box before buying (potentially unnecessary) cables.

Well I noticed on the drive that's already connected there's plugs that come off of that cable any idea of what those are?

I was thinking they might be for lighting connections idk

Also have no idea how to hook another up anyhow...

SATA cables look like the above: usually straight or right-angled. They come in many colors: red, blue, black...

EDIT: To install a hard drive, you must connect two plugs:

1. SATA cable from the Hard Drive to the Motherboard (this allows the motherboard to read or write data to the hard drive).
2. Molex power cable, from your power-supply to your hard drive. This provides the energy to the hard drive, so that it can spin its motor (among other things).

Molex power cables come in many shapes and sizes. The one for your hard drive probably looks like the following:

That's what the plugs coming off the cable to my current ssd look like. So connect the power from the 2nd drive to the one of those and the other to the sata port?

And will there only be one molex cable? Or do I have to run a whole other one to the psu

There should be more cables available from your PSU. Many power plugs will have 2 or 3 plugs on one end to hook up power to more than one hdd or ssd extra (they don’t use a great deal of power, so this is ok). Is your PSU modular? This means that other plugs are available to plug in as you need them.

If not modular, then all plugs will already be plugged into the PSU and probably shoved behind the back panel.

Maybe that's what I'm describing as the plugs coming from the cord. Those must be power connections for the drives.

I think the psu is an rmx 850 or something like that
