Getting dual 9800GTX's need advice

now i know were computer nerds so instead of using a peper shaker or something else that can very by house i decided to put a tech spin on it...this puts in perspective how massie this case is. those are 2 12'' cold cathodes on th right side.

my only gripe is the side fan, i'd ditch that in a heartbeat only cuz i w/c

2/3 drive's in a cage beside the psu and a nice big RAD in the front

maybe one in the top as well

Just FYI, I put my second 9800GTX card in yesterday. Combined with the rest of the system in my specs(4 HDDs, Q6600, 4GB RAM) it only consumes 515-520w when running loops of 3Dmark06 measured at my UPS.

lol loaded i just weighed it and its 85lbs but i have a prob and i need you guys i got the drivers all installed etc...but i cant enable sli..w/e i thought and i was checking the pcie slot to see if it was seated all the way and i found an amber led on the dvi plate of the card and it was on the functioning card did not have this.....i figured ok power prob... so i switch some stuff around and i was like hmmm maybe the +12's arent giving enough juice...so i plugged both adapters into my primary and the 2 6pin dedicateds into the second same thing...i have no idea wtf is going on but i am not pleased thoughts

I hate PCI-E(Did I say that?) Look in device manager and see of both cards are there. If they are not, pull them and reseat them again.

The Amber/Red LED on the card means there is something wrong with it(I know obvious). On mine, I only see that when the card isn't recieving power. Otherwise the LED should be green.

I was having the same problem when I connected mine. I had to call Thermaltake about it, and they said to make sure one rail is dedicated to each card, and only one rail is connected to each card. According to them, if you mix rails, it can cause the PSU to freak out. I thought it was kind of screwed up, and I really didn't think it was possible, but when I re-wired it so each card had a single rail attached to it, it worked.

the secondary doesnt show up in gpuz or deice manager.

both cards use 1 adapter and both adapters are on their own +12v line.....i tried plugging both dedicated 6 pins from the psu to the secondary card and both adapters to the first.....the first one lit green and just started chuggin but even with both dedicated pci-e 6pins the second one still showed an amber alert.

then it's not seated in the right way yet. Sometimes pulling up on the card when it boots will solve the problem......

When this happens I pull on it towards the CPU. Sometimes the weight of the card is to much.

in case i missed it do both the card's work separately in each pci-e slot?

try switching the card's around and see if the problem remain's

well reseated it and it recognized it rebooted went sli and it shows curruption immediately reseated again same thing (sata wire was in the way) so the card is effed....best part it when i opened the box to install in the anti static bag had 5 other torn/opened stickers on it...meaning it was opened 5 times prior to me getting it...and this is the one thats dead...yay.

Not good, another card gets returned. This is why I don't like buying from retail shops like BB. Chances are, what you are getting is something used that was already returned at least once. I've been in the back and watched them re-shrink wrap items that were returned as defective. They just keep selling them in hopes that finally someone will just RMA back to to the manufactures instead of bringing it back to the store.

nope returning it today we will see its wicked agrivating i might get my cards off of newegg...but if this doesnt pan out i just happen to know the director of marketing for bfg and he's been willing to pull strings before if this doesnt work he like he would have with the 9600's personally test 2 and send them to me.
