GIGABYTE UNITED INC., a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, today launched the highly anticipated GIGABYTE GA-N680SLI-DQ6 high end gaming platform, featuring the advanced NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI MCP chipset, support for the record-setting Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad Core processors and delivering the uniquely innovative GIGABYTE 6-Quad technologies.

In addition to native 1333 FSB support for the latest Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad-Core processors, the GA-N680SLI-DQ6 features the nForce 680i chipset with support for SLI technology, including two PCI Express x16 connections and support for an additional PCI Express x8 connection, allowing users to add a standalone physics graphics processor for an even greater boost of graphics performance. The GA-N680SLI-DQ6 also supports NVIDIA LinkBoost technology, which automatically increases bandwidth up to 25% when select GeForce graphics cards are detected, delivering enhanced system performance and maximum overclocking ability.

Ensuring the highest levels of gaming performance with support for high dual channel DDR2 800 memory architecture, the GA-N680SLI-DQ6 delivers an additional boost in memory performance with support for NVIDIA SLI-Ready memory with EPP technology for one-click access to enhanced memory settings for unlocking even higher levels of memory performance up to 1200MHz. The GA-N680SLI-DQ6 makes your gaming experience come further alive with 8 channel High Definition audio support, delivering the highest levels of sound clarity.

Extending GIGABYTE's range of Ultra Durable motherboards, the GA-N680SLI-DQ6 delivers several advanced GIGABYTE innovations including an All-solid Capacitor design, the revolutionary Crazy Cool2 and Silent Pipe2 cooling technologies featuring an all-new heat pipe design, Quad Gigabit LAN, Quad-Triple Phase power, QuadBIOS, and Quad eSATA 3Gb/s with RAID functionality.

    Quad-Core Optimized
GIGABYTE has implemented optimized Quad-Core FSB routing and a Quad-Triple phase power design to ensure the highest levels of performance and stability from Quad-Core processors. With 4 cores and 2 shared L2 caches, Quad-Core processors provide the industry's best capability-per-watt solutions, delivering significant performance boosts and extended energy efficiency, making them the ideal choice for multi-media enthusiasts and intensive multi-tasking environments.

    Quad SLI-Ready
Supporting NVIDIA Quad SLI technology, with true dual PCI Express x16 connectivity for up to 4 of the latest NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GPUs, GIGABYTE Quad SLI ready motherboards provide flawlessly smooth 3D video rendering and screamingly-fast frame rates. With an additional PCI Express x8 expansion slot, users are able to add a standalone physics graphics processor for a significant boost of graphics performance, taking games to the next level of hyper-realist detail and effects.

    Quad Gigabit LAN
Four unique Gigabit LAN connections provide up to 4 x1GB of bandwidth usage, allowing the PC to function as both a home gateway and game server at the same time. Supporting NVIDIA Dual-Net Technology with NV TCP/IP Acceleration and FirstPacket technology, GIGABYTE Quad LAN with Teaming functionality enabled allows 2 sets of 2GB connections to each act as a single connection for twice the bandwidth, improving overall throughput with lower CPU utilization.

    Quad-Triple Phase
An exclusive feature found only on GIGABYTE motherboards, this unique design incorporates Virtual 12 Power Phases to deliver steadier power and immediate current to the CPU and memory during heavy system workloads or overclocking. Additionally, Quad Triple Phase helps decrease the working temperatures, enhancing system stability and increasing component lifespan.

Quad BIOS is a unique GIGABYTE feature that includes DualBIOS™ and Xpress BIOS Rescue Technology. This combination delivers a safety assurance mechanism that sports a total of 4 copies of BIOS distributed between the Flash ROM, hard-disk and driver CD. This feature helps to reduce the affects of virus attacks or firmware damage and provides multi-layer BIOS protection that assures greater PC platform stability.

    Quad e-SATA
Four sets of external SATA ports based on the Serial ATA 3Gb/s storage specification allow effortless sharing and transfer of entertainment content and digital media on external devices. Designed for external SATA devices, Quad eSATA2 delivers enhanced scalability and double the bus bandwidth for high-speed data retrieval and saving On-The-Go.

Seeing those features it's just like Quadfather, 2 chipsets = double the I/O. Most of it is pointless. Plus Quad SLI with 8800's required a nukeplant. Would suit them to bundle stalker with it.

This is a beautiful and feature rich board. Perhaps it is more advanced than most gamers need, but its there if you need it. IF not, get it for the oodles of good features. Makes me want to get it and an Intel C2D just for it. ::Drool::
