GIGABYTE today unveiled low-profile GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and GTX 1050 graphics cards. The two cards are based on a common board design, featuring a half-height PCB that's 16.7 cm long, and a dual-slot cooling solution, with a monolithic copper-core aluminium heatsink, ventilated by a single fan, and yet come with minor factory-overclocked speeds. The GTX 1050 Ti low-profile card ships with out-of-the-box clock speeds of 1303 MHz core, and 1417 MHz GPU Boost (vs. 1290/1393 MHz reference); while the GTX 1050 Low-profile ships with 1366/1468 MHz (vs. 1354/1455 MHz reference). Both cards rely on the PCI-Express slot for power, and feature two HDMI 2.0b and one DisplayPort 1.4 connector, in addition to dual-link DVI. The company didn't reveal pricing.

I have been close to buy the small AMD gpu's for a while now, to build a small computer for my mother who mostly watch youtube and do some photoshoping.
Maybe these could be the one instead..

More like playing DOOM at 1080p Ultra, or editing 4K videos with GPU acceleration.

Well, even with 28W GT730's it was either single-slot full height, or dual slot half height...
Otherwise it would turn into a mini-toaster.

How did they take such a big step back from the low profile 750ti? A permanent, antique DVI port in a second slot? It makes single slot mods impossible, as well as fitting it into low profile BTX chassis.

HDMI and displayport should be the only ports. Enough with this antique 1990's tech.

Agreed. And screw DP, DP over USB-C is where it should be at, 4 of em, and dongles for the rest!

For the time being, dremel or a soldering iron and some desoldering braid + solder pump should do the trick...

There in fact are couple of gtx730s with single slot low profile(i.e. ZT-71112-10L).

I had a 8500LE/9100 back in the day at it was a sub 25W part that was both half-height and single slot.
Here it is: http://www.allstarshop.com/shop/PowerColor-AR2L-B3_124_6398.html
...memba Riva TNT2... memba Rage128... memba Chubaka...

That was almost 15 years ago. 150nm GPUs weren't that afraid of high temperatures, hence 9100 was a decent choice for passively cooled iGPUs on some motherboards boards. Plus, both NV and ATI probably learned since then, that it was not a good idea...

There in fact are couple of gtx730s with single slot low profile(i.e. ZT-71112-10L).

And I quote, from the spec page:
"Slot Size Dual Slot"

I held in my own hands quite a few of those (broken, though), and while they are close to being single-slot, they are not. There is a slight 3-4mm overhang, which prevents anything from being installed in the next slot(and you wouldn't want to, because it has to be cooled somehow).

The 68W Quadro K2200 (GM107) is single-slot, half-height right now, with 4 miniDP connectors. Probably loud af under load too...
That's closer. But too expensive for conventional use.

Here folks, is a prime example why AMD cards are selling poorly:

RX460: 2 models
RX470: 2 models
RX480: 5 models

1050: 6 models
1050 Ti: 6 models
1060: 18 models
1070: 8 models
1080: 13 models

Thanks Gigabyte! I'm sure the RX460 with sub 75W power would explode if it would have a single fan and/or ITX version!

gonna call bullshit on this. A quick glance at newegg shows more then 10 different 460 designs, same for the 470 and 480.

I was clearly talking about Gigabyte only, which is what this news piece is about. Just click on their site.

ah. Apologies, that makes more sense.

Although, it is a chicken and egg problem. Why would gigabyte want to put as much work into 480 models when the 1070 has higher margins, and outsells the entire 400 lineup?

Looks like it's single slot, full height...you may be thinking of K1200 which is HHHL but only 45W.

Derp. Thanks for the catch

Fair enough, I stand corrected(I thought that dual slot was just for those low profile brackets, when one just could leave that vga bracket off). You have any hand on experiences about palit's offers(i.e. gt 730 gddr5), at least they say 1 slot but then again probably only that bracket is one slot. And I don't find any mention about low profile brackets on their web site. I do know that asus offerings are all over one slot.

Haven't seen those in person, but they look exactly like Palit GT720 and GT710, which I saw maybe once from afar, and they are actually single-slotted.
That might be the winner.

Speaking of Palit, I do happen to have pair of PCI-e x4 GT730s in my possession. Those are smaller than a pack of smokes, but still two-slotted (It's half-height half-length evil midget w/ 2GB GDDR3 and 384 CUDA cores) :fear:

Actually, let me check my sh#t closet. I might not have seen the card itself, but I do remember seeing this heatsink somewhere in my house...
Will be easy to measure it on the GPU, or make my own single-slot half-height card. I only hope it's none of those triangular mounts, like on ASUS...
