Are they taking a mickey with this price? I understand this is a custom build, but their option prices are bonkers. 50 buckaroos for a coiled aviator cable? Glorious are seemingly taking their meme brand name too literally at this point.

The keyboard seems a bit tall. And then the caps are full size (with no low-profile option). Is it comfortable to use without a palm rest? Also, does it have on-board memory?

I know the price can seem ridiculous (and it is, considering you can have a serviceable keyboard for $20), but remember these days mechanical keyboards can easily go for $200 without offering any special feature at all.

Yes, I know calling it Glorious GMMK is a redundant phrase, but blame search engine optimization and everyone referring to these keyboards as muchsuch.[/qoute]

I have the GMMK 2 and it's less tall but I still want to get a palm rest for it. Definitely read about the software on their reddit sub. It's not working. A lot of people have to use the older version if they can find it.

This may be a better (not to say *much* more expensive) keyboard, but from an aesthetical point of view I still find the original GMMK much more pleasing.

Fully decked around 600 USD?

: DDD

You can get limited, absolute masterpiece group buy stuff/custom Karolingian Craft Alps stuff/totally custom sculpted keywell stuff for that kind of money. Fully decked. Or if you want to go analogue, you can put two Meletrix BOOG75 in your cart, and still have leftover money.

The guys at Glorious smoke some serious shit.

No, bro. This IS totally ridiculous. And you can get REALLY nice stuff for 200 bucks (Qwertykeys Neo Ergo, Neo80 etc.), not this massively overpriced, mainstream gayming crap.

Onasi

50 buckaroos for a coiled aviator cable?
That's funny, because that's in the realm of custom, hand made Pexon cables.

I think I'll stick with Logitec and Redragon keyboards..
Stick with Keychron, Varmilo or Akko instead!

Not every decent hardware costs a fortune; some companies don't encourage smoking crack all the day.

But certainly never used them, judging by your response. : DD
True! Don't need to. I don't like the way some of them look or some of the functionality. Not my jam.

For example, Keychon's don't make a single model with media/volume controls. Not one that's available here stateside. Varmilo? Same problem. Some of the Akko's at least have a volume control knob, but only on mini keyboards. Not one model available from those companies has anything I would consider acceptable. They're either the wrong form-factor, missing functionality and/or just plain crazy expensive.

But hey, if you like them, more power to you.

There is not a single good (no, Logitech or Redragon is not that) keyboard which has dedicated media buttons, like in the mid-2000's.

On the other hand, there are a shitton Keychron boards with tactile, pushable (metal) knob, which is programmable, and its default setting is volume control/mute (but you can set it up to zoom, changing brush size etc.). Not to mention, that most of their models are QMK/VIA-compatible, meaning every single key can be set up how you want it, including complex macros, special functions or media controls.

v6_max.jpg

Here's your dedicated media buttons, above the num pad, on the primary layer: Play, Stop, Rew, Frwrd. I presume you don't use Scroll Lock/Pause-Break/PrintScrn too much, so there's an additional 3 buttons there on the left for extra media controls (their original function can go to the second layer).

v6max2a.jpg

The wonders of QMK/VIA – and a decent board. ;) Which, in this case, is a Keychron V6 Max. Not even expensive. I mean 110 bucks for a pretty good all-around board – with tri-mode PCB, I might add – is anything, but ungodly. Double gasket mount, polycarbonate plate, dye-sub PBT keycaps (OSA profile), 2,4 GHz/BT/wired, 1000 Hz, foams, PET film, lubed switches and (screw-in) stabilizers, 5 possible layers, you can switch between Windows and Mac modes with a physical switch, and can be easily disassembled, because the manufacturer expects you tinkering with it. It's actually nice to use it, Logitech or Redragon has absolutely nothing on it, really. Oh, and it comes with two dongles; a Type-C and a Type-A.

Moose muffins! I personally own several from each company. They're not just good, they're excellent or very close. Please stop with that nonsense.

However, I digress, we're getting off-topic..

You might think that if you never used an actually good keyboard (this has nothing to do with taste, there are plenty of objective parameters to judge a peripheral). The only nonsense here is that Logitech is anywhere close to being good.

Owned dozens of boards (still have eight), including Logis, and as a somewhat well-versed hobbyist, I can tell you with confidence, that the latter are overpriced trash, sorry. Some would be 'so-so, seen better' – for half the price. Redragons are okayish in the ultra low budget range, if you tinker a bit with them (foams, lubing, better switches and keycaps), but when you regularily have 40-50 percent off Akko sales (meaning you can get a board for 65-80 USD or so) and the like, they are more, than redundant.

bug:

Have you seen their website? For example, this is the page about refunds: https://www.keychron.com/policies/refund-policy (it basically says "screw you").
That's an awfully familiar mentality with Logitech as well; getting a proper RMA is a coin toss. Could tell personal stories. Never again.

The only difference is, that Keychron actually has good stuff. And QMK/VIA, which is an absolute game changer. Owned four Q-series boards, still have three, and not gonna sell those, as they are pretty nice, even if you have extensive basis of comparison. If I'm gonna upgrade, that will cost serious money (250 USD+, more like in the realm of 350-400 USD, eh...), but even then, they gonna go to a rack. But I love having technical conversations with people who has strong beliefs in the matter and are vocal about it, but never used anything that realistically worths more than 50 bucks for more than 10 minutes. : /

At this point, I have to ask if you can read. Coin toss beats the crap out of "you can only return if it doesn't work, after we say so and at your own cost". Plus, you can return a Logitech peripheral somewhere in Europe. Nowhere does Keychron's website say you won't have to pay for shipping all the way to Hong Kong.
