help me out here, i7 2600k plus ASUS P8P67 EVO for 250 from my best friend, hes trying to go ivy bridge and he makes more than i do, good deal or not, thing has never been overclocked. should i bite the bullet?

You basically get the motherboard free, so help your friend help you and buy it.

For anyone else looking for a 2600k, Fry's has them on sale for $238 right now. Was available online as well as B&M, but online might be OOS by now.

As for your friend not so much, yes maybe he will squeeze a bit more performance with a Z77, but cpu vs cpu [Sandy/Ivy] I would stick with Sandy, better "clocker and temps".

Your gonna have to think about cooling. The Bigwater in your specs "could" do the job but you'd have to buy a new CPU block.

^thought about that too, i was thinking aircooled for the time being.i dont plan on overclocking it just yet, might pick up an h80 or an h100, and selling my current amd 965+mobo+ water cooling unit, that can go towards the funds for this setup. i live about 10 minutes away from Frys, and about 15 minutes away from microcenter, so im pretty sure ill find something on sale that can cool the new setup decently without having to wait for shipping.
