Check: http://boallen.com/fps-compare.html

I can definitely see the difference.

That's a real great example. :toast:

Note that due to the limitations of Flash, the 60Hz example looks choppy too though. Also notice how it looks choppy in different areas, since the frame rate on Flash wobbles all over the place. This is my major bugbear with Flash.

I agree with others that question the use of gifs for this.

These are compressed multi image files. [rhetorical] Not a good way of testing video quality, is it? [/rhetorical]

and many people say we can only see up to 30 fps

30fps have some noticable choppyness for me, that's why i hate playing on consoles.

Easy to tell by looking at the swords or other things in fast motion. The more swords you see during a swing is the image with the higher FPS.

Yep. Once I started watching the swords I was able to tell a huge difference.

I got them all wrong and couldn't really tell any difference anyway.

If you look at my system specs im used to gaming at around 30 fps and im a firm believer any lower means game play isn't fluid but any higher is all well and good but i wouldn't be able to tell. But if 60 fps is so much greater as i only game at 30 (on a good day) why didn't the 60 fps images jump out and scream "where much better then anything you've gamed at buddy"?

Oh i do :) I just thought that for the reason im used to bobbing around 30 that the jump up to round 60 would be more noticeable for me as apposed the the majority of guys n gals on here who have the capability to game normally around the 60 mark.

animations at 60fps and 30fps are an obsolete form of testing. this is a bad test. gaming between 30 and 60 is a huge difference, especially when turning in a first person game.

Yeah, that's the point, kind of. You can even see differences in animations only, let alone with high dpi mouse input in FPS game.

Id take 60fps over 30fps any day! I could see the fluidity in 60fps whether this was a bad example or not.

I think that test was terrible. I couldn't tell the difference. I can completely tell the difference in an actual game. Hell I can tell the difference between 300 and 150 in L4D2 when I play.

Got all of them right by looking at the sword.

Of course 60 fps is most noticeable when view is controlled by high dpi mouse input.

How's that phosphor doing after the years? My blurry pixeled tubes are all long long gone.

my CRT has been there for 5 years, daily used, and still rocking.
it's indeed smoother to me than LCDs, but i must admit i can stay longer in front of LCD than CRT.

I can see the different easily. But for gaming FPS doesn't really matter for me if it's above 30. when i play games I will be concentrating so much on beating enemys/missions I'd have no time to notice the different between 30 n 60 and above, as long as it's not choppy.
