Next time better buy a board like mine that does both Xfire and SLI....;)
Then it doesn't matter what cards you upgrade to.
Not gonna lie I'm kinda happy it wasn't my CPU, more or less a cheapskate friend who didn't know enough about PC's to get a board with SLI (not to mention it wasn't planned to build it with SLI) but no matter what it's still painful to watch a CPU burn up.

@CanadianGamer how much is your budget? also ... here are some advises...

Motherboard: GA-B250M-Gaming 3
Video card: GeForce® GTX 1060 G1 ROCK 6G

Cooler:
stay with the provided stock cooler, the $40 you want to spend on the 212 cooler might be saved for a future AIO which performs better.

PSU and Wires:
If you are in a tight budget avoid PSU extension and wires for aesthetics and get the best PSU for your actual budget, look for seasonic or enermax 1st, any 550W unit might fit all your needs, if possible seek for 80+ Silver or up to, bronze is the almost the lower certification, that does not mean that is bad, but you could spend your money wise than getting extensions just for better look ... also UPS unit will be pretty appreciated by all your hardware...

Memory: Personally i have had most problems with corsair memory compared than any other brand, in the other hand, Kingston memory and patriot has never gave me problems, so will tell, avoid fancy products and get better ones, Kingston fury DDR4 3000mhz, beyond that that you will just wasting money,

Hard Drive: get a decent size SSD for OS and daily programs... mechanical or traditional HDD for Data and some games! Samsung 840/850 960 / 950 are pretty famous and pretty fast units, 64GB is way enough to install your OS and daily programs (i do have one like this, look at my specs...) also 120GB for a primary OS + important programs is a ideal size,

Keyboard / Mouse / Mousepad / Headset:
Thermaltake have an interesting bundle, Commander pack, mouse + keyboard, also their mouse pads are terrific, have 3, 2 of them have like 7 years old.... also for the headset, look for Kingston Hyper X cloud 1, the very first model, ultra excellent sound, design and quality, also it comes with several accessories for that headset! mic sound is terrific for this model ...

Curious question why waste money on a hyper212? Stock cooler can cool the stock cpu fine. Makes more sense to put the money into more ram or an sshd/ssd

Decided to move on to gaming laptops. My recent post describes it
I'd get the desktop instead, I think gaming laptops are more of a racket. Thermals will limit you and they are often overpriced compared to the performance you will get from a desktop. As far as 1060 3GB vs 6GB, get the 6GB for sure, 3GB is too low now. Modern games need more and more VRAM. In a few years, 6GB will probably be too little. As far as ram get 16GB. 8GB is too low nowadays. Power supply get a Gold 500W. Don't get bronze unless its a 500W Seasonic M12II, which is a very good model.. Often the Golds are better built, less likely to fail and take out your whole rig. Also don't plan on upgrading your CPU to a better i5 or i7, there is no point the i5 7400 should be plenty and if you want the better i5 or i7 for that socket just buy that first instead. I think the SSD is nice to have and worth it. If your board has NVME get like a 256GB 960 Evo and use that as your boot drive. I run on a 256 SSD and it is fine for windows plus one or two large games like GTA V or BF4. You can save money by buying a $50 case instead of a $100 case. If you need to save another $30, skip the 212, try running the stock fan first and see if it cools it adequately.

A proper gaming PC should last a lot longer than a gaming laptop because it won't be cooking itself each time you play a game.

if my personal experience holds any weight in regards to suggestions, id say that if i were looking to build a PC on a budget without sacrificing quality, Id personally go with Asrock. they have always been great quality, and tend to hold a fantastic price/performance ratio. although i havent done a Personal build with 1151, id guess the track record still holds true.

I just meant "some" board that does both support SLI and Xfire like mine. :)

I know i know, it was some kind of boring Joke.
