So over the last 6 months or so i have slowly been upgrading me pc to roughly how i want it, i got a nice sony car sub in box for £20 and just got a nice new power amp to run it all.

Now this amp is a direct amp it has no bass or treble controls, what im looking for is a device that has bass and treble control but i have no idea what it would be called.

I could just buy a 2 channel mixer but this would be pointless as i only need a single channel.

Does anyone know of some kind of device that has analog bass and treble controls?

or can anyone recomend a good but pretty cheap sound card that will work good in windows 7 and has decent bass and treble controls that dont go all funny when turned up.

media player sounds crap when i use the bass and treble on it so im looking for a more of an hardware bassed option.

thanks in advance for any help :D

cheers will have a look into them in a sec but i forgot to mention, this is for a home setup so i need somthing that can only take power from the wall.

I did see some cheap 2 channel mixers on ebay so if it comes to it i might just get one anyway.

i think illl also get a new sound card anyway :D

Your pc's mobo will have a subwoofer/centre speaker output all the high frequency sound is filtered out for the sub by the soundcard (onboard or pci) So really you shouldnt need a crossover for your new sub.

Most car amps can run bridged so you'll be able to use both the amps channels to power the single sub.

im not doing surround sound so the amp is connected direct to the stereo out on the pc.

i think the only way around what i need is to buy a 2 channel mixer but would rather just have some sort of bass and treble control.

OK just an update, i decided to buy some extra speakers and use my old stereo to power then and i have my front main speakers and sub connected to the new home power amp.

i have had a chance to test a top end pioneer mixer, its that good a mixer it dident realy help with what i needed the mixer for (its just to clear lol)

what i would like to do now is buy a sound card but i can only afford around £60 so could anyone please recommend a reasonable sound card for that price, I havent listened to any newer sound cards since i had an audigy 2 but i no longer own this card or i would use it.

I got some of those speakers in my car lol, but I would reccomend an X-Fi Music for it and tune down the bass a little.

haha its a nice sub got it for £20 from a friend, my prob is lack of bass, seee i only have options when playing music in media player or winamp but the EQ in both programs is bad (maybe its just wondows 7 no direct x sound?) so my onboard sound card loses its bass and treble controls.

Thanks for the reply and info to, i was looking at the x-fi music but i play a lot of games aswell so what is the main diff between the x-fi music and x-fi gamer cards.

    thanks again

just remember that car audio subwoofers are far more distorted than home subwoofers, and generally hit harder, rather than giving a high SPL like most home subwoofer systems do.

thats the idea i use it for music mainly not films so i want a good kick from the sub lolz:D , most home subs sound to booomy for me where as this sony and my main speakers are actualy rather punchieeee.

not sure on full spec of this sony sub but i do know its 350watt RMS, has a SP of 89db i think and this room is small to so its nice lol.

ooo reminds me i have the sound set as quadraphonic and all speakers set to front output a by god does it sound good extreamly clear but i just need more bass on the front and sub speaker, the main prob its because the setup is that clear rather than muffled i cant even distort me main speakers for some reason not that i would want to lol.

If you have enough space, you can invert the sub. On average, a sub hits quite a bit harder inverted.

True but im not sure if i wanna change anything around yet im also not sure how the amp will react seeing as i have 2x kef coda 3's hooked up aswell.

Just to make sure i understand this right, when you say invert do you meen turn the bass cone round or swop the poss and negative connections? its been a long time since i did anything like this, and to think i used to be a DJ when i was 18 lmao.

Also cheers KainXS im going to have a good luck at the x-fi cards and see what is best for my needs :D if all goes well at work this week i might pick the card up at weekend, it might also fix a stupid prob with my current sound, seems like a few ppl have the same prob but my realtek HD sound has somehow reversed my front left and right channels, only way to sort it is to plug my phono leads in the other way round hehe.

http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=SCC-XFIXMO << might get this one
