I'm having a very bad problem. Not sure if it's the GPU or PSU dying.

Here are some screenshots:

Windows Regular: http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/7949/artifacting3iv5.jpg
Safe Mode (Slightly better): http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/9053/artifacting4qx1.jpg

It also looks all messed up sometimes even at the boot screen (Actually the boot screen only looks proper the first time - if I reboot now, the boot screen will be all messed up).

PSU = 550W Ultra X-2 Connect (Dual 12V rails max 35A)
GPU = 256MB Sapphire X1800XT

I'm going to RMA the GPU this weekend. I just wanted to get some final input on what this looks like to anyone here. *Note* I don't have the ability to test out either anywhere (my old PC was AGP, and the old computer ran on a 300W PSU perfectly, so I doubt I'll notice anything when plugging in the 550W PSU)

I honestly don't know how it happened.

Last weekend I went home to work (at college), and I came back, and noticed some very minor artifacting that remebled dead pixels almosts (except they would go away when I move the application around). It progressively got worse, until it just randomly started working fine again for a day. Then it all went to hell afterward.

The card physically looks fine. The card ran on 48C idle and never passed 68.5C on load. I never volt modded or pushed up the voltage on the card either. When I overlocked the computer, I made sure the PCI-e frequency was locked at 100Mhz.

I'm lost as to what happened:shadedshu

how old is it? if you turn off hardware acceleration* does the artifacts clear up?

*= display properties->advanced->troubleshoot->move slider all the way to the left.

No improvement. Only makes Windows not reboot after a few minutes of use.

Card is only 2 weeks old.

sounds like DOA (Dead On Arrival) to me then, since this started to happen under under a week since you got the card.
RMA it right away.
and btw, follow my top signature!
