Hi
I just bought a Ryzen 7 3700X, 16 GB RAM 3000Mhz with a RTX 2060.
The problem is that the GPU Temperature goes up to even 87 degrees Celsius, what can I do to solve this?

Try to change fan curve of the RTX 2060, NVidia usually makes fans spin quite slowly to be near-silent but GPU temps go way up and life down...

My money is on that it isn’t a MSI ;)

Edit: we need to know what case/fans you have and of course which GPU. Ambient temperature? Please include the curves from MSI Afterburner from a game session or what it is that bring your GPU up to 87 C. Setting a lower power limit is a solution.

I’ve already done that through MSI Afterburner but no promising results. Should I undervolt it?

TU106 cards seem to generally have around -0.1V of effective undervolting room, if not more. Mine sits around -0.118V lower than it came stock, which shaves off 4-5 degrees. Optimum Tech has a good tutorial on undervolting all GPUs, including Turing thru Afterburner's volt-frequency curve (Ctrl+F).

Is this the Aero ITX 2060 from MSI, or Asus' Phoenix? These are the only single-fan compwct 2060s that I can think of. I've not read reviews of the MSI, but the Asus is universally panned for being possibly the shittiest designed cooler ever made, even when it's paired with a 1660 Super, thermal throttling at stock. In that case, you can try undervolting and adding more airflow / changing cases, but it may not get you below 80-83 degrees, which you need in order to stop the throttling.

Zotac's dual-fan Mini is generally the hottest two-fan card followed by the FE, and both comfortably sit below 80C. It's hard to overcome the drawbacks of having only one fan on a GPU that really needs two or more.

There's not much you can do about that, maybe you would want to return it and get another design with better cooling

Hi. It’s the Gigabyte version.

Figured, they are the worst cooling wise. Only thing you can do is ensure there is plenty of ventilation in the case.

Yeah, it's Gigabyte TU-106. I emailed the guys that built it and they said that as long as it doesn't get over 90 C it's fine, but if it's sitting at 85-87 C for hours, the lifespan of it goes down I was thinking.

While it's on idle it gets up to 35-47 C ish, the moment the I open a game on high graphics it just keeps on going up till 87.

Gigabyte made more then one model. Anyway what is interesting is how far up the fans are going and how your model compare to a similar one tested. Sure it will live at 90 degree C, but I’m sure it will live longer at 75.

Edit: Gamemax Experdition is a one fan micro case. You are f**ked with that case If you care for temperature, sorry to say so.

I have a Windforce OC albeit a 2060 Super with just the two 100mm fans (as opposed to the gaming OC which has three 90mm fans) and I have mine heavily overclocked and with the right custom fan curve I am seeing a max of 80C the only downside to mine is that there is some coil whine at a very small rpm spread of 72 - 75% RPM so my curve accelerates the fans beyond that so I only hear it for like 2 seconds when gaming. I think the case airflow may be the issue here.

They have 1 and 2 fan versions with 90 mm. We still doesn’t know which model OP has. I didn’t study the case i detail, but there might be a possibility to add a fan or two in the front, at least a google picture search showed a RGB version with two fans.

What's on the box of the GPU?
Nice try, prebuilt I’m sure. Its a GB, they are not the best, but the real problem here is to get the hot air out. @Soreen find out if you can fit a 120 mm fan or two in your case.

If its a Gaming OC card - those cards are the lowest tier of cards that Gigabyte sells so their coolers tend to be the least adequate at getting good thermals.

Get a GPu with a better cooler or replace the cooler on the card with a better 3rd party one.
