I always do. I use DDU to completely remove the existing drivers first. Then I reinstall, even if it's the same driver version.

IDK, I've had problems before, so I always reinstall.
Doing it this way ensure that I don't have any issues.

Official statement: no you don't have to with Nvidia > Nvidia.

Personal experience: reinstall them because it allows you to judge a card more readily, you can already tick off the 'bad drivers' box in case anything is off beforehand.

DDU is nonsense, I've not once used it with Nvidia since Kepler. Just clean install the new drivers.

The card is a friggin tank. An absolute German Panzerkampfwagen. It's cooler and quieter than my 1080 SJS too. :cool:

Well - I don't think watch dogs 2 is the best title to test a gpu haha, it's optimized as hell - I can't even hit 4k 60 ultra without dialing down settings.

that's why it's good.

I tried some light oc on the card and fired up bf1. it ran around 100-110 fps on 1080 OC, now I'm around 145-155. Lowest I've seen was 135.

That'd be a nice upgrade, I'm holding out till beyond that though since my 1080 ti ftw3 is doing well at what I need to do - even at 4k 60hz. Those 7nm gpus will definitely bring large performance gains and that 1080 ti trio is an excellent gpu and will last that long easily.

Don't worry, all that requires to change is time :)

Either way, nice to see you like the perf jump. Seeing the numbers I still think its a bit questionable of an upgrade, though. The WD2 example and the high refresh example both are just minor shifts, really. Neither setup allows you to max it out for 60 or 165 fps respectively. Tweaks can of course change that, but those were also possible on a 1080 ;)

As Rick Nelson sang before he died, "You can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself".
Both of us are happy with this model of GPU for now. I'm actively looking for a second one for a little bit of SLI goodness. (because I happen to like SLI for myself)

I have a Gigabyte GeForce GTX-980 Ti XTREME GAMING that is a lot like this MSI GTX-1080Ti Gaming-X Trio. It was pissed-off right out of the box and it performs well above other GPUs in its class.
