I tried to run the Render Test on a new build with Pentium Gold G7400 using the Intel 710 graphics. When I tried to run the Render Test it needed a DirectX 9 file which downloaded and I installed it. I do not know what the file was but I would like to uninstall it now. Does anyone know what the file was and how to uninstall it?

@OP -- you do not need to uninstall/remove anything of the kind.
These files do not slow down your computer, nor take any significant disk space, so please leave them be.

The file I am trying to uninstall is causing Performance Test (all versions) to fail during the DirectX 9 test. Do you know the name of the file and how to uninstall it?

Something is wrong on your computer, and removing parts of DirectX is not the way to go.

Just to share some insights, these files are the official DirectX runtimes from Microsoft. As soon as you install any game they automatically get installed, also by Steam.

On a fresh Windows install they are missing, which is why I've repacked a minimal download that's just sufficient to run the GPU-Z render test.

This is what gets installed: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/wi...setup-for-game-developers?redirectedfrom=MSDN

First time I hear that someone wants to uninstall it, I searched the web, but it seems it's not designed to be uninstalled. It shouldn't cause any problems though

All I can say is I have two systems that are exactly the same...hardware and software. One is working fine, I did not install GPU-Z, the other I did install GPU-Z with the DirectX 9 file. They both have PassMark's Performance Test 8. The one without GPU-Z is working fine and the other with GPU-Z is not. To be specific it fails on DirectX 9 and the only thing that I can think of that I did differently is the GPU-Z DirectX 9 file I added. Pretty strange coincidence any way you look at it. I tried Performance Test 10 and it fails on the DirectX 9 test also.

Flawed reasoning here -- try something else.
For example, does 3DMark benchmark work fine?

What about Unigine Valley and Superposition?

You can check Cinebench too. You will find it in the Windows Store.

Well you could at least provide your specs, and "exactly the same" should also mean identical graphics cards and identically configured os and programs. Anyways regarding the dx9 files, i always install the complete dx9.0c package (which is 100ish mb in size), and never ever experienced any problems with performancetest, userbenchmark or any other testing utilities (dont know about 3dmark as i only used Vantage and FireStrike so far lol). With both amd and nvidia cards. (Geforce 8800GS, GT 310m, GT 640, GT 710, GTX 650Ti, GTX 460, GTX 580, GTX 680, GTX 960, GTX 1060 6GB, Radeon HD 4570, HD 5750, HD 6850, FirePro W5000, HD 7790 (r7 260x) HD 7970, RX 580 8g. Currently can test with 580 8gb in the main rig, and r7 260x in the office potato. I ve never seen the issue you are describing.

Forgot, a good idea to test BOTH of your PC's RAM, just in case, via a USB flash drive with this test:

(Has a paid version too but the free one should be quite sufficient.)
