Suddenly today GPU-Z refuses to start. The UAC prompt never shows but does still appear for any other programs that need elevated privileges like CPU-Z, Process Explorer, and others. I didn't change any settings recently. Smart screen is disabled and I even tried turning off UAC just to test it. Tried downloading a new version from TechPowerUp. Nothing worked. I finally found a clue when I tried launching it from a command prompt and received an "access denied" error. So now I can only get GPU-Z to run from a command prompt with administrator privileges.

Any suggestions? Windows 10 (1903)

Looks like a Windows permissions issue.
What are the permissions (NTFS ones) set for the GPU-Z folder?
What about its EXE file?

Could be antivirus?

I've figured out the issue is not GPU-Z. It's a Windows issue. When I right click on GPU-Z.exe and check the properties it shows me "This file come from another computer" with an "unblock" checkbox next to it. It's true, I did copy this file from my previous computer to my current computer 6 months ago. It always worked fine until yesterday. Occasionally I still go into that old drive and copy files to another location, but now some of those files are being locked after I copy them. And I still can't understand why a newer copy of GPU-Z I downloaded was also locked while other downloads weren't. But, given the many annoying problems I've had with Windows 10 (mostly USB driver related), none of which I had with 8, I'm no longer surprised.

I've worked around the problem by using Sysinternals Streams utility to unblock GPU-Z, so the problem is solved for now. Sorry to bother you guys. GPU-Z is one of my favorite utilities and when it stopped working it really set me off. I appreciate the replies.
