Graphics Card Cutting Out

A few years ago my graphics card on my computer stopped working and we had to get a new one, after that randomly the screen would go black for about 3 seconds and turn back on and input:dvi would pop up, it would most commonly happen when a program launches, also whenever i would launch a game the same thing would happen but the game would minimize and i couldnt reopen it and id have to force quit it from task manager. Recently we got a new computer so i decided to reformat the old one, i completely wiped the hard drives and installed windows 10, i thought it might fix it but it didnt, im guessing the graphics card is not compatible but im wondering if there is anything i can try before having to buy a new one.

Graphics card: Radeon(TM) RX 460 Graphics
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
Motherboard: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P8z68-M PRO
8GB of RAM

From which maker and what model is the RX 460?

What bios are you running on the Asus P8Z68-M Pro board?

Newest bios is version 4003 which lists "Enhance compatibility with some PCIE device." I would give that a shot if you haven't already.

Newest bios is version 4003 which lists "Enhance compatibility with some PCIE device." I would give that a shot if you haven't already.

I believe the graphics card is by gigabyte

bios version is American Megatrends Inc. 0402

I would still give the newest bios a go if it was me.

I am not sure how right this link is but looking up the board on PC-Specs it some has rated it to 6.7 out of 10 so you might get lucky.

Your welcome, and I am happy to hear it works.

I did this on a older AsRock Z68 because it was booting weird and wouldn't always boot doing reboots. But then I did a bios update and the bios chip died but I ordred a new one with the newest bios on and now my friends pc works again.
