graphics card fan is spinning but no display

I have XFX ATI radeon 6670 1 GB DDR5...

The card was fine for two years.. but few days ago the display just went off.. it was ok then I turned off the computer.. after about 1 hour I turned on the computer.. but there is no display, computer was running.. then I plugged the monitor cable to motherboard's plug then the display came.. I tested the graphics card with other computer but same thing happened.. when opened the case I found that after starting the pc, gfx card's fan is spinning and I heard 2 beeps, but there is no display.. the card requires no extra power from PSU, it consumes power through PCIE x16 slot..

Is my graphics card dead? Or there is some minor problem I can fix.. NOTE: I have BIOS setting with priority to pcie slot 1st..

you dont have a monitor with DVI or HDMI?

Legacy Ports (vga, HDMI, DVI) have separate ramdacs.

If one blew out, another may still be functional.

because its a separate loop. not related to the core in anyway except the temp sensors.

@de.das.dude, but there is no sign of any burning of parts.. although I have not seen the GPU chip condition.. and more surprising is that card went off in one hour and not it was touched in that one hour.. should I upload the picture of my gfx card?

Sorry but if you have tried it in another pc with the same result, then the card is dead.

So you tried the same card in different PCs and neither of them booted? That's a strong indication that the card is at fault. :mad:

Last card I had that died (7970) showed no visible sign of damage, and I never found out why it died. Fan would spin, but it too failed to boot on different PCs, so an RMA may be in order.

I really don't think that even matters considering he tried the card in multiple systems and it was a no go.

I to believe your card has died on you. Hopefully you can RMA it. :toast:

Hard disk: Seagate 1 TB Barracuda 7200 rpm

I found that after I put the gfx card(fan is spinning;no display) there is 2 beeps. Don't know if it is normal.

It is ridiculous that my card died without giving an warning..

And what is needed to RMA my card? I purchased the card from a shop.

@the mac, I have an old CRT monitor, so I tried with VGA port at my home.. in my friend's home DVI port was tested but same result... fan is spinning but no display..

short beeps or long beeps. There is a beep code list for your board to troubleshoot. It may not be the card and too early to say this.

check the cables, you may loose something, check the contact area of the card try to clean it
if everything is done but no result just bring it back to the shop where you buy it and ask for rma. :rolleyes:

If electronics are going fail at any point it's more likely going be when they are turn on or off.

You need to get in touch with XFX hopefully you registered the card with them before 30 day of buying it if it over a year old..

If you did not and you have your invoice you MIGHT get lucky by just adding it now if you have a account with them already as they had a big data base issue..

Not sure if they lost any accounts i don't believe so but i do know they lost some of the details within those accounts as they lost one of mine which i had to re register it.
