While in gaming my gpu temperature goes up like 76 77 78 79 80 81 82 and by the time it reaches 82°c its performance from 80%-85% goes down to 20%-45% until temperatures go down to 76 again then again full power and repeat.

Using throttlestop
Monitored everything using msi afterburner
I got an inspiron 15 series gaming 7000
Intel i7 7700hq
Gtx 1050ti
16gb ram
Ssd 250gb
Hd 1tb
Thanks in Advance.

Well it’s obviously throttling. You’re already using Afterburner so use it to set a more aggressive fan curve that will hopefully keep your temperatures down and out of thermal limits

If you're using throttlestop then i'm assuming you have undervolted the CPU which helps reduce the overall temps, does Dell have their own software to adjusting the fan speed?
I know for me on my MSI GF63-8RD laptop you have to use their dragon center to be able to control the fan speed.
You can try replacing the thermal paste with Artic-cooling Mx3/4 or something which will reduce your overall temps for both CPU and GPU by 3-5 degrees.

They are all "normal" GPUs. He has a laptop and they do tend to run hot. Checking the fan is of course valid in any case.

Going to do that.

Fan is not stuck checked them.

I will try to find how I can adjust the fan curve. Also going to get my thermal paste replaced with the one that you suggested.

Thank you all for your help.

Do you suggest any of these?

I found a reddit post disucssing about throttling, you can try the solution there. Good luck

I managed to get the cpu running without overheating(the problem that the guy in the other post has) by playing with throttlestop and bios settings. Now my problem is that my gpu is overheating and throttling. Thank you for the help

The Noctua thermal-paste is pretty good.

Thermal paste does NOT fix thermal issues.

Cleaning (dust) however does. That and accepting crappy midrange laptops will live up to their name. These things fall apart fast under any serious load.

The temps themselves don't seem that high, but the performance degradation seems unusual.

I have a Dell laptop I purchased last year. I launched GPU-Z and then played Borderlands 2 for a while. CPU shows as having hit 100 C, GPU 81 C, but I had no noticeable performance hits at all, was still getting over 100 fps ingame.

My fps until the fps drops are pretty good. Playing demanding games at over 70 fps on high settings. Then the problem comes up and from that time I cant even achieve 40 fps on optimal-lowest settings.

Managed to get my cpu to work perfectly at 90-95% for hours without throttling. Now my gpu sucks it was much better before. I stressed the gpu for a some time now and managed to get full performance without dropping hard. The only problem is that it got up to 94° and stayed there no more than 94 no less than 92

My GPU did manage to go up to 83 C in a longer session, but still nowhere near 90 C.

I wonder if my model is better cooled. I have a Dell G3 3579, it has a i5-8300H, and a GTX 1060 Max-Q.

Its just throttling hard, and its largely inherent to the laptop's design. You can tweak things a bit to reduce the problem, but this will not be going away.

The best help is that cooling pad with an active fan to blow fresh air into the chassis. Another one is regular cleaning, and that does mean opening it up and blowing it out. A new paste won't do much. A bond is a bond, it barely degrades - and it carries a small risk of breaking stuff.

On top of this, you can limit the power target of the GPU a bit, perhaps tweak the fan curve to be more aggressive, and you can look at the heat output of the CPU. This can be a major help because many laptops have a single or interjoined set of heatpipes that start from the CPU running over the GPU next. That is not ideal, because CPU heat will transfer over the GPU. Reducing CPU voltage/clocks can be useful here, as long as it costs you less performance than the throttling itself.

EDIT: I see you've already been past Throttlestop, great!

To start the troubleshooting process, certain base info is required :

a) Which make and model 1050 Ti
b) What are ambient temps
c) What case and case cooling / how many intakes / exhausts ? What rpms and size ?

Otherwise, it's like asking a Doc "I dont feel good, ... what should I do ?"

When testing, you also need to use a known baseline ... random gaming sessions present too many variables ... we don't wanna ever be at 82 and > 80 should be avoided

A typical 1050 Ti AIB card shud be around 66C ... when overclocked

Even passively cooled models (no fans) stay below 75C

@John Naylor He has a laptop.... OP listed his i7 7700HQ as the cpu and that is a give away it is a laptop we are dealing with. Now make and model of laptop will determine thermals somewhat. OP may need to clean the vents, check fans , re-paste gpu and possibly buy one of those laptop cooler pads like This .

Most you can do with todays laptops, if anything Id look at a Dell XPS Gen1/Inspiron 9100 and see the difference, in 2004 they made real laptops, not notebooks.
