Graphics Card (What kind should I Buy?)

Im looking to upgrade my current PC and an looking to upgrade my Video card also. I am thinking of getting an Athlon 64 3200+ to 3500+ CPU or an Intell Pentium 4 3.0 to 3.5 GHz. I want to be able to play the latest games now and wan to buy a card that will last me for a while without having to upgrade really soon. I also want to get the best bang for my buck and and dont want the most expensive card out there. One that will do the job for the time beeing and a little into the future would be great. Im looking to spend between $100 and $150. I also dont know what brand to buy either Nvida or Radion ?
Any advice would be greatly appricated !!!

If your looking for gaming get the AMD for starters. Now for the video card. Get a PCI-E board so you can easily upgrade in the future. For ATI or Nvidia its more of your choice. They are both great cards. I wouldn't recommend going under a 6600 for Nvidia and x600 for ATI. I'd look at a 6600GT because they are fairly cheap. A X700 will be a great card aswell. If you can though see if you can spend a more and get something like a 6800 or a X800xl or pro. As they will last you longer. Hope it helps.

You can't get much that will last you awhile for $150. Off the top of my head I know you can get a 9800 Pro for about $130 or so, which is a good card, but they're already the last generation and it seems to me ATI is going to be releasing another new generation soon here. Something more like $200-$250 would do a great deal more. It really depends on what kind of settings you want to run in your games. My friend has an old Gf4 ti4200 and can play CS:S fine on medium settings 1024x768, but if you want to run something like high-max settings 1280x960 or higher, I would recomend a better graphics card.

i would use some kind of £20 card or onboard graphics at the moment and save your pennies ..

the R520 will be around one of these days , and considering the boom were about to experience in the gaming industry i wouldnt settle for anything less.,. also a new line of procsessors are comming soon down the roadmap , so if you can wait, i would ....

the best card at the moment to buy is probably still an X800 Pro for someone on your budjet as you can push it to very much faster speeds for nearly half the cost ... but Still if you where to wait untill the r520 is released you would save a bunch on 'outdated cards' ... hope this helps

This just out yesterday reports that ATI may wait until later this year to unveil the R520. It looks like maybe ATI is comming out with some multi-GPU stuff registering the name "CrossFire" with the patent office.

I choose 3200+ and 9800se or ABIT guru 9550 for that budget then...
