GT 620 Overclocking

In MSI Afterburner the Core Voltage/Power Limit/Temp Limit settings are greyed out. Is there any way to 'fix' it, modifying the BIOS maybe? I want to push this card to its limit. With only +160 on Core and +190 on Memory i got a massive +23% boost in performance

overclocking a gt 620 will allow you to move from 5fps in games to 6. Definitely worth it.

Stock: 32 FPS
Overclocked: 44 FPS

That means it's locked just like any low end GPU , you already achieved 12 extra FPS and that's the improvement you should expect from any GPU when OC'ed , btw 44 FPS in CSGO at low settings is pretty bad i assume you are bottlenecked by an old LGA775 socket CPU ? I swear i used to hit 60FPS in CSGO with a GeForce 210 (but at 768p).

If you go to 720p you'll get a much better framerate.

Cheap cards don't have voltage controllers that can be set via software. If you want to increase voltages, you have to do it physically to the card.

Yeah, this is pretty much it. They do go pretty nice once that's done though. GF108 can easily do 1000MHz+ with a bit more volt's.

The most important part for low end gpu's is to oc the memory as high as possible. That 64-bit DDR3 is not helping at all.

With Q6600 and 8GB ddr2 paired to a gtx6501Gb i could hit 80fps+ easy in cs:go..its now my parents pc, have to check again :-9

Maybe pic up a used GTX 750 or 1050ti on ebay if you have a ryzen cpu, just to go with newer feature set (cuda on gt620?) and save some power. Sell the gt620 for 15usd or keep it as backup?

You can't really kill a card from just adjusting the frequency and these small gpu's run pretty cool so it's not much of an issue.

But I do agree that you should probably look for a better gpu unless your just screwing around with the GT 620 for something to do.
