Even though I have a GTX1070 now, but yes I have noticed driving in and out some grassy/bushy areas, the fps could drop to 30, not many areas I think, specific.
Also I have noticed , not sure if it's at all gas stations, but if I drive in some gas stations and crash into the gaspumps I will get an explosion and then also got 30fps for a second or so.

If I create explosions at other places it stays 60fps for me.

Yeah 4xMSAA and 4x reflection MSAA, have it in-game set at 60Hz, getting a steady 60fps in the game, it can drop to 30 just at few specific places.

I leave my settings as is, since I don't drive into gas pumps that often or in specific bushes anyway

It's known that grass has the AA treatment too. Thus the lag when you are in the country with MSAA on.

That may be, but till now I only found the 30fps drop at 2 specific grassy/bushy places when I drive into it back and forth.
And at some gas station, didn't test all of them.

If you have lags or drop downs in GTA 5/Online your settings are simply bad.

Don't use ultra grass it's way too hard performance hit and doesn't make any real sense because you simply don't see much change from it. Use very high instead.

Reflection msaa should be set to 2x msaa or off.

4x msaa is a extreme performance hit, if you want something less extreme with way better perf use 2x msaa + fxaa. Fxaa helps on other things too where msaa simply doesn't work btw.

Use long shadows they are good and don't cost much.

Use softest shadows not the crap from nvidia or amd, it looks way way better than those.

Don't use txaa it just looks bad compared to fxaa. Use fxaa for smoothing things out msaa can't.

4x msaa is a extreme performance hit, if you want something less extreme with way better perf use 2x msaa + fxaa.

Well it just depends on your graphics card.
Mine handles 4xMSAA and 4xReflection MSAA + FXAA + some advanced graphics settings just fine.

Grass is on very high, I believe ultra was hammering the CPU more.

Can't reproduce the 30fps drop anymore, it must have been with another driver.
Also in those bushes where I had a dip of 30fps before I don't seem to have that anymore.
Haven't changed my in-game settings.

The largest drop was to about 40fps when I was driving in a busy gas station driving in a gas pump, cars and gas pumps exploded.
If I blow up cars on street it stays at 60fps.

As I said before, it just depends on what graphics card you have and probably what driver version you use, although I must say GTA V is a very well optimized game overall.

My overal GPU usage is 75% average in Los Santos, in Blaine county a tad higher.

I can even play it 60fps with MSAA 8x but then the GPU temp rises and I like to keep my hardware running cool just leave it at 4x...

During the winter I might play with 8xMSAA

Well if you have a card like me, you do want that eye-candy in your games because you can.
I don't like jaggies.

Fps are high but because I want msaa etc. It's not over 100. About 70-90 avg 80. I'll make some screens later and post them here.

I'm getting 100+fps with these settings at 1080p.

Are you not using the full advanced settings? Because that's not what I'm getting.

Too low 40-50 maybe. I'll do some screens later (with my settings) you can judge then if it's good for you or not.
