GTX 1070 Arriving Today - What Software for Burn-In & Testing?

What's recommended for burn-in testing / card stability / stress software? I want to make sure I don't have a lemon. Would like something that I can run recursively overnight or during the day. I'll use GPUz to log temps, card speed, etc.

It just seems to me like it's getting out of hand now ,and has been for sometime... but now it's really getting out of hand

To test your GPU, play a few round of Battlefield. It'll weed out the weak.

Yes, it is. I snagged it yesterday morning for $370 / AR. I think once they run out of in-house stock, 3rd party sellers step in with those inflated prices. I've seen the same thing on Amazon.

Run Unigine Superposition a few times then, at a setting your GPU will do 60+ FPS.

Thx... For now, just want to do some burn-in testing, no overclocking or flashing the bios right out of the box

Play Ashes of the Singularity if you like RTS. Solid RTS that's kinda the Crysis of the genre GPU utilization-wise. Has a built in bench, but I prefer just to play because its a fun game.

Otherwise the 3DMarks, Asus RealBench and GPU test in OCCT should treat you well to confirm you have stable graphics equipment.

I just went through a stack of 20+ cards in the past three weeks mining. Do you know how many cards were bad? none. On a daily basis I probably build 1-2 systems with 1-2 cards in them in the past year do you know how many cards I have seen bad out of the box? Zero.

I've used it as my primary stability test solution for almost a decade now for system stability testing on all systems I build and maintain. In use the Linpack CPU test, GPU and PSU tests to confirm component then total system stability. Be warned...you will warm up a room easily with the PSU test!

If the driver installed and didn't kill the box it is fine. Again it isn't 10 years ago, and that is a relatively inexpensive card sold in quite high volumes with great yields.

I used to have this card. You should update to the latest BIOS (HERE) first of all. It fixes memory issues with Micron chips and adds 0 dB too.
I didn't like the 0 db because it made the fans spin then stop then spin. (bad fan curve I think) So it's up to you to decide.
Other than that, just play games, if it works nice, then don't worry about it.

If you are that worried. Throw nice hash on it, mine on it over night if the card isn't on fire in the morning no game will ever load it that far.

The OP's card has got a decent cooler too, so should be ok.

I reckon just running a AAA game benchmark in looping mode should be enough though. The likes of GTA V and Metro 2033 should do.

uhuh and in the past month I have see at least 3 reports of people blowing 1070's and 1080's up using furmark

Eh, run a little F@H on it. It will not unduly test a GPU but it is one of the few things that will put a nearly 100% load on a GPU for hours. (benefits science at the same time) Over the years, there have been several times where people found their GPU's unstable for F@H that were perfectly fine for everything else they did. F@H will not really test the VRAM though.
This link for setting up F@H is mostly right. Getting long on the tooth though.
