Delta of 22 in 1 pixel - ATiTool

I want ppl to take notes with atitool, when it goes "Delta of 22 in 1 pixel"- what are your experiences ?

My oc was at 756/1512/1215, and I didnt get this displayed in atitool. It's not an error but what IS IT ?

So, 756/1512/1224 ofcourse showed this "delta" stuff, and I lowered mem OC
I tried 756/1512/1242, same delta warning in atitool, but again furmark showed nada

I decided to run and ignore the delta warnings: runs good, worst issue was 5-6 sec hang in Crysis, leaving no nvidia error even

Dont use ATi tool, I find furmark a much better test of stability.

np mate, take your time and just COUNT the sheep ! :D

EDIT //

RE: "but precision tool monitor says 729/1458/2484" - you always go by oc tool , not your own input. no wonder ppl here got 800 on core....and couldnt run atitool or cod4..what DID he run??? EVGA OC tool??

lol, thats awesome oc in my thin book !!! Fix 24/7 stable airflow and your rig kicks GTX280 for half the price

No can run COD4 actually, and furmark, the only thing I can at those speeds is 3D Mark 2006 (although I havent tried any other games) but I can run that at 790 now.....shaders linked of course :p

Yeah, I was gettin 17,500 with a G92 GTS with my old quad........what you think of the E8600? I am toying with either one of them or a E0 stepping Q9550.....dont need a quad really tho, except for benching scores and of course I am a retired overclocker!

I love the e8600, got to 4.0 w/o breaking a sweat. My DFI P35 has to work a little harder to get it to 4.4, but aside from higher temp readings that many believe are false and no E0 support in BIOS yet for this chip, I've been pretty damn happy.

Also Tatty was that 17.5k in XP or Vista? I could get almost 14k with my quad and 9600gt in Vista x64.

I still can't get too far with linked shaders...my card has a limit on shaders around the 1550-1570 mark...leaving the GPU around 700-720 mark, so I unlink to get a little more there. Seems you have a pretty good sample! Mine runs nice and cool, right now it's at 59C folding, 80% fan speed, 745/1570/1280.

My friend (GTX280 oc'd) switched from E8400 @ 3.6GHz to Quad (xeon 3220, same as Q6600) and he says at 3.2GHz games etc are at same fps, but apps in general much faster. He has 24" @ 19x12 rez.

I usually lower my cpu clock to find cpu sweetspot (the lower MHz still gives same fps in games) to oc'd gpu, but havent had time yet. I think 3.5Ghz C2D is same as 5GHz C2D at 19x12 rez, only 12x10 (3DM06) still would show big diffs

I just ran 3DM06 @ 1680x1050, 4xAA and 16xAF with CPU at 3.55GHz (8.5x418 and mem 1:1 4-4-4-12, possible to use C1E, EIST and stock volts), comparing to previous run with CPU at 8.5x471 (4003.5MHz):

Exactly same SM2 (5900) and SM3 (5000), only diff was the total score and cpu score ofcourse.

12316 vs 12691 total points.

3.2GHz maybe sweetspot, that would equal 2.9GHz quad core, and with 19x12, even less CPU required.

With 1280x1024, 5GHz might still show SM2 gains ! :D

I'm having a hard time deciding between the 260 and 280gtx's. On ncix 280's start at $469 and 260's at $329. Considering this will be a one-time-only thing for me (I'm poor!) I'm trying to figure out if the 280gtx is really worth the extra cash stepping up from a 9800gtx. I sure like the 280's numbers in crysis tho....

What sold me on the 260 was 2x 6pin PCI-e connectors, lower power consumption, cooler running and OC-ability. Both cards are great, the 280 performs well at stock, a 260 OC'd can catch up to a stock 280 to an extent, but 280's are oc-able also.

But the 280's run warmer, need 1x6 pin and 1x8 pin, so you either need a PSU with 8-pin or use their provided converter from to molex connectors which I hate using...and couldn't afford a new PSU.

I'm impressed with my GTX 260 at stock speeds let alone OC'd performance...I don't need the OC's at 1440x900 for any game at this point so that makes me happy. The GTX280 would last longer...I'd say wait for the newer 260's with extra shaders, they should be out shortly...and the 200b's are around the corner, 55nm GTX280's and possibly 260's that could clock higher, run cooler and have more power. That or get EVGA/XFX so you can step-up to that card.

$329 is pretty steep for a GTX260 man...I got mine a month ago for $269 shipped from Newegg (was 299, then a couple days later it dropped $30, so I called em, they refunded me $30) and then I sent in a $30 MIR. I saw somewhere Tatty was thinking of selling his GTX260 which is one of the best OC-ing 260's I've ever seen...you two may be able to work something out that would still be cheaper than NCIX!

I think the best I got recently was about 12.5k...I got around 9.6k stock. Well the best I did was with my new dual core, the best I could muster with the Q6600 was around 12.5k even. Not a huge difference, and that was a very high OC run on the 260...it must've been a fluke..I can't seem to do it again! LOL!

EDIT: Err..ignor the 3dm06 one. Nothing special lol!

I think I want the 280gtx now.. #1 is $469 high? and #2 is palit ok maker for these cards? I wish newegg canada would hurry up and open.
Oh and I'm upgrading a few other things too, I'll be getting a corsair tx750 which has 4 pci-e 8 pins so no problem feeding the 280. And an antec 900 and a samsung 22" wide. Should blow through a grand quick......

Palit is an excellent make, they in fact are the parent company of Gainward which is the make of my GTX260 and it overclocks very well :D.....I also have two 8800GT's from Palit and they are rock solid as well as again, excellent overclockers...............highly recommended!

Palit is a good brand, unfortunately they don't have Step up, like EVGA/XFX do...that's why I recommend them. Plus EVGA gives away a free copy of Vantage with card registration, which you gotta do for Step-Up also.

I do have a Palit 9600GT Sonic that kicks ass! OC's very well, runs cool, looks good...it's in my G/F's rig folding and gaming...it stomps my old x1950xtx. Really your 9800GTX should be sufficient for now tho man. Unless you really want to try this card out, I see no real reason you should want one at this point...I'd say wait for prices to drop on NCIX and maybe wait for the 260+ or 55nm 200b's to be released...when it will make more sense for performance and budget.

I hear ya on Newegg canada...lol, a few years late as it is...they need to get it done! If you go with the GTX280 it will last you a good while tho! Depending if the GTX260+ or 200b is affordable for step-up or if the performance isn't worth the price difference I may just keep what I have. I have my GTX260 currently flashed to EVGA FTW 260, runs like a champ. I don't stress my 260 much with my 19" widescreen...so eventually I gotta get a 22" or 24" monitor lol!

$469 is still pretty high for a 280, they were going down to the $380-$420 mark last I heard...but I haven't checked up on prices lately...

Don't get a pre-oc'd version of these cards...at least in my GTX260 findings, I can hit the highest OC sold cards with my vanilla card, others are finding the same. I would say get the cheapest one you can find.

If you wait a couple of weeks the GTX260+ will be out which will be cheaper and maybe faster than the current 280s.

I don't think it'll be faster than the current 280's, it's just going to have an extra TMU/shader set unlocked. Maybe OC'd it will reach closer to 280's, but I don't think it'll beat the 280...but they may just release the 260+ and release the 200b under the new GTX280+ as a 55nm? I'm curious to find out what the reality of all the recent news of these cards is going to actually become true. But in the end it wouldn't suprise me if the 260+ would beat a 280 to an extent...but looking at benches, users with similar builds to mine are getting +2K on my vantage score with 280's, 14.5k compared to my best of 12.5k...that's with current product tho...the future could be promising for revisions of both cards...though I hope to see both on 55nm with more OC-ability, those shaders need to get into the 1800-1900MHz realm to be a serious top-dawg performer...that would put the GPU at a max of 900-950MHz at the 1:2 ratio though...I don't think it'd happen...but that would be very cool to see and experience!

GTX 260+ or GTX 270 or whatever they decide to call it, will fit in right between GTX 260 and GTX 280. A bit faster than 260 and a bit slower than 280. If the rumors are true and if the September launch is imminent, then I would wait a week or two. As soon as 260+/270 hits retail, prices on old GTX 260 and even 280's will drop.

Probably something like this:

GTX 260: $170-200 (depending on model and manufacturer)
GTX 270: $200-280 (more or less where GTX 260 sits now)
GTX 280: 340-390 (depending on model and manufacturer)

Prices of Radeon 4870/50 should drop as well, since AMD will have no choice in order to stay competitive.

So, unless money is no issue, I would wait and save some cash.

As far as my OC'ing. I haven't gone higher than 756MHz. Not sure if v-mod would do any good. Time to do some benchmarks for benchmarking sake and not just stability runs. :D

Made som discoveries: max oc isnt stble at all in CoD4..had probs with that game on G92 OC also.

But this time I noticed my vcore had dropped to lower than Prime95 stable, after I installed the card (2x6pin)

With G92 card (one 6pin) I got 1.344v on 9x438, today I get 1,328 with same BIOS selection. I raised it one notch, showing same again (1.344v)

haven't tested much, 2x15min max. cod4

I'm SURE 1.328v would app crash any of my aps..but then my oc might be too high also..or my psu too weak
